2005 merc grand marquis high beams out, both low beams and all other lights ok.

Power to the left and right headlamp assemblies is supplied by the Lighting Control Module. Power leaves the module, passes through the multi-function switch, and depending on the switch position, is routed to the LO or HI beam side of the headlight assemblies. When routed to the HI beam side, the HI beam indicator in the instrument cluster is additionally supplied with voltage from the same source of power. Because the low beams work, we can know that the power source (Lighting Control Module) is operating properly and that power is successfully passing from the module to the switch. This leaves the following areas as potential failure points for the high beam circuit; multi-function switch (bad HI beam switch contact), multi-function switch to headlight assembly wiring (open circuit), or the high beam element inside both headlamp assemblies. It would be odd (although not impossible) for both headlight assemblies to go bad at once, therefore the multi-function (combination) switch would be my #1 suspect. Just wondering what the switch on the left handle bar is for that says "pass". Can you help me out. I do not have a manual for this bike.

Hi, bikers usualy use it to warn other road users that they will be passed by.When you press that switch your Hi beam lights on, so basicly is flash light.
You can also use it to "say " hello to other felow bikers :)

Suzuki 1200s bandit, headlight & main beam not working, sidelights work fine, checked fuses & bulbs they are perfect

G'day mate , now did you just look at the fuses or did you pull them out , often you'll find that on bikes the solder in the fuse will break , not the filament , go after that to the harness that gets the power out it may be loose, dirty , shorted , then try the earth at the light wire try these before you go for the micro switchs in the handle bars they are a real piece of work to get appart and back together and truthfully not much in there to go wrong

Headlites won't come on .all other lites work but, high and low beam don't function.high beam will only operate if I keep the handle of the passing beam up. Have checked the relay system and fuses, All are...

if the high beams function when holding the passing lever, you know the bulbs and fuses are good, the bulbs do operate. the passing lever bypasses the headlight switch on the dash. replace the headlight switch, and be prepared to also replace the connector for this switch, since they had a tendency to melt.

Main Beam and Dipped Beam not working, passing light working OK, and Bulb good. I assume wiring contact/ broken cable, but which one that effects both lights?

hey steve , first it might be a dumb question but have you checked your headlamp fuse? If it's not blown then proceed with this fault finding.
If you have an american model( with no on/off switch on right hand switch cluster) then your main feed wire for your lights should be comming staight out of your harness into the left hand switches, this will then feed the hi/lo switch.
With a simple tester to check voltage to the lights, the LH switch cluster removed off the handle bar, and the ignition turned to on position, connect your earth to the frame or motor and check the central wire feeding the contact plate for the switch, you should get at least 12 volts, if not then you need to trace the wire to find the source of the fault.
If you have the on/off switch on the RH switch cluster your power goes into that switch first, again check this wire for voltage, if you have 12V running into the switch, check the wire going out, if power is present at these two points, then your fault is between the on/off switch and hi/lo switch, check these wires for faults and check your connector blocks,as corrosion at these points creates resistance, which in turn leads to a build up of heat and can cause even more problems.
let me know how you get along with this,

This is about the tw 200 high beam, new bulb still doesn't seem to have any current to the yellow wires. One goes to high beam indicater, which by the way that bulb is burned out, the other goes to high...

If you have low beam then you have power to your handle bar switch, and if you have no power coming from the yellow wire from the handle bar switch, replace it.
