Haier hdw100wh
I had a similar problem, except I did not notice a burning smell. I would put my dishwasher on and it would stay on the wash cylce for ever. I had to manually turn the dial to the next cycle.
I had a repairman in and told him I thought it may be the thermostat (from everything I had read online). He dismissd my diagnosis and said it was the timer. He order the timer and came back 2 weeks later and replaced it. It did not solve the problem. He then ordered the thermostats (my Haier ESD102 has 2 of them) and came back 3 weeks later and installed them. That solved the problem!
Timer = $137 CAD (covered by warranty)
Thermostat 1 = $14 CAD
Thermostat 2 = $21 CAD

I have a HDW100WH dishwasher - just a few months out of warranty. The other day I could smell a burning smell, but couldn't identify what it was. The dishwasher initially stopped part way through the cycle. I thought it was a blocked drain so after clearing it out, I restarted the system.
It now works but gets stuck part way through the wash cycle & part way through the rinse cycle. (I put it on at midnight & it washed until 6am - & then the same with the rinse when I tried another setting. What could cause it to get stuck in this cycle? Any suggestions. Thanks Ian Allan
