Check valve adjustment. And...one might be sticking.

2000 big bear 400 spits and sputters blows gas out back of carb into air box at half and full throttle put on a new carb and piston rings

Sounds like the carb may not be completely clean...Did you get the GENUINE OEM carb??. When someone tell's me they replaced the carb (why?) .. I have been repairing motorcycles and ATV's for 45 years. only replaced 3 carbs in that time frame..ALL the others I was able to clean and repair...- I get the feeling someone is guessing at how to fix an underlying problem?? Did you use all new OEM gaskets? Did you remove the piston to clean it ( bead blast the ring lands?).. is the piston on in the correct direction??. rings on correctly? .. hone the cylinder?? .. check the valves for leakage?.. All bolts/nuts properly torqued?, ..OK.. as you can see there are many variables that need addressing before any kid of accurate assessment can be made!! My suggestion is to find a competent factory trained mechanic and pay him for his service!!

I have a 1984 honda big red atc 200es I just got from a family member its been sittin for about 2 years so far ive totaly cleaned the carb made sure everything looked brand new inside and out it still...

Hey Anon,
Cleaning a carb is not an easy undertaking,, there are several tiny passages, tiny jets, and the needle/seat assy, If you are not trained to know these.. you may not get the carb as clean as it needs to be... Install a new spark plug... a new air filter.. and get a qualified pro to clean and set the carb.

I got a 95 big bear and i got a problem with a rough idle and back fires

If it's been sitting around for a while it could be the idle jet has a little craip in it (it don't take much) but if it's spitting fuel out then I would make sure the float levels aren't sticking.

02 Big Bear 400- Hi-idle & backfires while running. Tried cleaning carb & air filter, drained bowl & cleaned with carb cleaner. Could there be aproblem with the choke.

Sounds like the carb could use a cleaning and setting by a professional...install a new plug and a new air filter.. AFTER the professional carb cleaning and setting.,,do this and repost

BOGGING DOWN

This sounds like water condensation. Drain the carbs and a cup of gas from the tank and see if that solves the problem. If no joy, check the filter screen (inside the gas tank) mounted on the gas valve. A plugged screen may not let the gas flow freely to keep up at higher speeds. If still no joy, clean the carbs.

Carbeurator?

remove gas line from carb and turn on gas if no gas tank and line need cleaning. if there is gas need to remove carb and clean jets. before you remove it seal off the back of carb with hand and have someone to kick it over a few times if its a small clogg this just might remove it GOOD LUCK
