SOURCE: Won't start
Starting problems with 2-cycle engines are usually traced to fuel line/filter clogging due to jelling of the fuel mixture while the engine is idle. Best fix is fuel mix pretreatment with some kind of gas saver in the gas can. Marine grade additives are the best, such as 2+4 gas treatment. Now your stuck with pulling the fuel lines and blowing them clean. If the carb has a primer bulb, you can sometimes force the fuel through, but a complete cleaning is in order. Pulling the plug and putting a few drops of fuel mix directly into the cylinder head, (or in the air intake), can sometimes get the motor to fire. This proofs the problem as being fuel starvation.

hi rick
if the plug is ok and kill switch and wire have been isolated from the ignition unit
and the earth is good for the armature legs on the coil - then yes the ignition module must be replaced and the air gap set to 0.010 "
a fair bit of work involved in replacing coil in one of these units !!!
ps make sure compression and muffler are ok and have a look up the ex port and check rings / piston and bore for any damage before parting with any cash for new coil
and dont be tempted to use stale fuel mix in your blower it can cause a lubrication fault
resulting i damage to piston / rings etc

Seems like alot of work to determine whether the thing is getting spark, and even then, $26.95 plus shipping for new parts and reassembly; honestly, would you put in this much time and effort to try to fix it, or instead invest in a higher quality blower like an Echo or Stihl that simply don't die as often? I have repair shops in my area who service both brands, also Hsquavarna. But they won't touch this Poulon.Assuming my time is worth $25 per hour, and that I'm no mechanic, would my time/money be best used to get a more reliable blower that can be locally serviced?
Thanks for your help.
