My acer 6516 laptop keyboard is locked, and I cannot get it to unlock.

     Open the Acer laptop and turn it on. Allow the user to complete all startup procedures before pressing any buttons on the keyboard.

     Locate the "Windows" button. It is located on the bottom left-hand side of the keyboard and has a dark circle with a little waving flag inside. Locate the "L" button as well.

     Press both buttons at the same time. The laptop keyboard is now unlocked. Test the computer by trying to open a file on the computer. If the keyboard did not unlock, repeat the procedure and be sure to press the buttons at the same time. The keyboard will unlock.
     
     

I just think you accidentally locked your keyboard and touchpad by pressing the function key!

Just press: FN + F6

this will unlock the keyboard and touchpad!

The Keyboard is locked? Or do you mean maybe the mouse pointer is locked? Look on your keyboard and see if you see anything that resembles a mouse touch pad. Some systems will lock the touch pad, but it can be unlocked by hitting a combination of keys, such as holding the FN key + the key with the touchpad icon.

- hold power button for 20 seconds
- try putting the battery back and ac adapter
- try to turn on the laptop and check if keyboard is still locked

It is easy remove the laptop keyboard for acer and here's how to remove the keyboard.

Use philip screw driver and pointed knife to remove the lock buttons located in both left side and right side, and top side of the keyboard. You have to start removing the lock from the top side and then in left and right side. Each lock button you unlock, you have to flip it not to return the lock. Gentle flip it up not to damage the ribbon connection at the back of the keyboard. Once you see the ribbon connector, release the lock and remove the ribbon connector. That it and it is finish. Do what ever you. If defective, replace it and if it dirty, clean it gentle.
