Onkyo htrd570 how do you raise vol on back speakers

If it stays distorted eith the speaker or the amplifier is at fault. If it only does it when adjusting the volume, it is probably the vol control at fault.

It could be that there is a frayed speaker wire touching the back of the receiver and when playing at a low level the speakers do not require that much power, however when the level from the speakers increases more power is required and if there is a frayed speaker wire touching the back of the receiver there could be a short causing the receiver to shut down. A way to avoid the frayed wire is to use "Banana Connectors" that the speaker wires goes to and the connector will plug into the speaker posts. Please try the following to see where the issue is coming from. Have the receiver turned off, make sure all the speaker wires are labeled, and disconnect them from the speaker terminals. Turn the receiver on select a source that would give you sound if the speakers where still connected and turn the volume all the way up. If the receiver shuts down than it would need to go to a service center as it is an internal problem with it. If the receiver does not shut down, turn the volume down, shut the receiver off and connect one speaker and than turn the receiver on selecting the same source as before and raising the volume up. If the receiver shuts down, remove that speaker from the post and connect it to another speaker post to determine if it is the receiver or the speaker itself that is giving you the problem. If the receiver should shut down after moving that speaker you know it is a problem with the speaker or the wiring. If the receiver does not shut down, turn the volume down, shut the receiver off and connect another speaker followed by doing the previous test procedure. Keep adding speakers until you have them all reconnected to the receiver as long as it has not shut off while trying the test procedure. After determining whether it is the speakers or the receiver you would need to bring either to a service center to be repaired. bad soldering joints inside the receiver or faulty speaker relay.

I hear all speakers except back ones I took them off in hooked in dif. Spot in heard sound so speakers work ..I went to setup in listen to all speakers no sound from the back

CHECK ALL YOUR SPEAKER CABLES YOU MAY HAVE A PINCHED OR PUNTCHURED SPEAKER CABLE. IF ALL YOUR WIRES ARE RAN ALREADY GO INTO SPEAKER SETTING GO TO SPEAKER CONF, WITH RADIO PLAYING, AND START RAISING Hz IF ITS A SPEAKER CABLE PROBLEM IT SHOULD CUT OFF WHEN UR RAISING THAT SPEAKER Hz. IF IT CUTS OFF WHILE RAISING THE Hz TAKE ONE SPEAKER CABLE STRAIT FROM RECIEVER TO THAT SPEAKER THEN TRY RAISING IT AGAIN. GOOD LUCK

Audio output electrlytic capacitors have dried out, locate & replace them if you want your sound back, it's cheap but not easy.

You didnot mention wehther you selected external speakers on you tv. If your TV allows this then do that, first.

Also the sound input to your TV must come from some source, (cable/ Sat). You could remove the audio inputs to your TV and only allow the audio to go to your Receiver.

RCA cables will allow this to be easy just remove the red and white audio to your TV. If you have sent them to your reciever then you must balance the cable box volume (reduce to the lowest level , then raise your recievers vol until satisfied if you are to loud when you switch to a CD then raise TV vol until they match, so your CD doesn't play to loud when switching modes)

If you are using an HDMI cable to your tv than there has to be a setup for turning off the internal speakers on your TV.

You have said the correct thing HDMI is digital therefore Analog will not pass.
You might have RCA audio outputs on your cable box so either send them into the TV from cable or into the AMP then use AMP volume to listen to TV audio (select unused input and remember it is for TV) the key is to remember that cable box will drive the initial vol so raise or lower cable vol then use AMP vol to obtain desired volume.

possible problem will be on the speaker relay ckt. as discussed in onkyo's service bulletin.
"When the speaker relays are activated, the collector of Q231 and Q232 should drop to near 0Vdc. Voltage can be monitored at terminal P6830 and P6832. Q231 supports RL6600, RL6602 and RL6603, where as Q232 supports RL6605 for Zone 2 operation. If the DVC at P6830 collector or its follower terminal is HIGH, it should be an open transistor Q231."
