I have a distortion problem, doesn't matter if you play dixieland or techno on it, every single record distorts. So i switched needles and all, but it keeps distorting, I've also switched mixers, switched wires ,everything. It must be something in the record player...anyone out there got a solution or same problems?

Place a tape into the machine, (One that doesn't matter if recorded over). Engage and release the record mode several times.
Check to see if it now plays a tape as it should.
The distortion could be an amplifier issue or the record/playback switch needed cleaning.
the adjustment is such that the needle just sits on the record
too much needle weight and the frequency range is distorted and too light on the record allows skipping
it is a matter of trail and error
Sounds like its mechanism need some alignment. Guide pole alignment. Contact any service technician. This is technically skilled work. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
This turntable has a preamp switch on it, which is probably on and what is causing the distortion. Take off the metal record platter by lifting up on the two holes gently. Turn the pre-amp switch to 'off' and then try it again. This is probably it...
Or you can plug it into an input that doesn't have a preamp and that should work.
Run the diagnostic software by unplugging the unit. Hold the Play while reinserting the power cord. Continue holding the Play until the diagnostic program is displays NUC XXXX where XXXX is a series of numbers. Once the diagnostics is finished it will pass or fail. To return to normal operation unplug the unit and reinsert the power cord after 15 seconds or so.
Have you changed the cartridge that the stylus fits in?
