Hi, and no. The fan on the outdoor condenser always turns in the same direction on a heat-pump. What changes is what is called the reversing valve located by the compressor. It reveres the flow of freon in the winter on its own, with the help of the control board and thermostat. There is nothing for you to change but putting the thermostat into the heat mode, and the unit will do the rest. Good question though.

Hi, just checking in with you ? do you understand what I have told you? There is nothing you need to do with the fan as it will always turn in the same direction no mater what time of year. Its the revering valve that switches the flow of freon from the cooling season to the heating, and its all done through the thermostat and defrost control board. Fan will always run in the same direction, nothing for you to change.
    Sincerely,
    Shastalaker7

Minka Aire Concept II only spins counter-clockwise.

Did you press and hold the reverse button while the fan was rotating? According to the manual, the fan needs to be on (blades rotating) to use the reverse button on the full-feature remote. Press and hold the button for 3+ seconds until you hear a faint click. The blade motion should reverse. The manual is available on the product page here: https://www.minkagroup.net/f519l-wh.html. The current link is https://www.minkagroup.net/images/instruction-manuals/F519L-English--1538524654.pdf .

If that doesn't work, I have to ask if the receiver unit is correctly installed and if the remote is the original one for the fan. You may need to check if the transmitter has had the frequency setting changed to avoid interference. This could mean that the previous owner had multiple fans and provided the wrong remote with your current fan. See the section on the second page of the trouble-shooting section for adjusting the transmitter frequency and pairing the remote to the new frequency.

I hope this helps. Fan and remote still won't communicate then I'm not sure how to diagnose which one is at fault.

Pulls air in (clockwise) only, have tried reversing, won't pull air out (counter-clockwise)

fan blades are designed to move air in one direction only
if you want a unit to reverse the air flow then reverse the installation of the whole unit or get the correct unit for the job

Why do we run ceiling fans backwards in winter with a heatpump

That question cannot be answered as stated. What direction is backwards and what is the pitch of the blades.

The theory now mostly dis-proven is you pull the hot air off the cealing in the winter to help warm the home. The opposit is valid in the summer. The amount of energy used is normally more then what is saved in the AC bill.

I have Hawkins ceiling fan. How do I switch blade directions - between warm weather (counter clockwise) & cool weather (clockwise)?

Clockwise on high for Summer. Counter Clockwise on slowest speed for Winter, to get the heat off the ceiling. A good way to remember which direction it should go from season to season , is by the directional switch on the side of the fan.. Switch Up for Winter. Switch Down for Summer.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

Does the switch to change the direction of the fan need to be up or down to pull warm air down

In the winter you would want the fan turningclockwise and on most ceiling fans it is in the up position. and in the summer you want it in the down position running counter clockwise creating a wind chill effect.

How do I reverse the direction of the fan blades to counter-clockwise on the fan? The fan is a Hampton Bay ''Clarington'' with a remote control.

There is a small black switch on the switch housing directly under the blades. When the fan is completely off, move the switch to the opposite direction.

I have found the right solution to the fan not working in the right direction. the problem is that is a pcs of trash, i ripped mine off the ceiling and tossed it out the window and guess what it, it flew...

Did you hit the reverse direction switch located on the upper fan body. Upward direction is for winter as it blows up toward the ceiling pushing rising heat out towards walls and down to floor. Downward direction sucks heat off ceiling (summer months) and pushes cooler air that is on the ground toward the ceiling, thus giving a cooler airflow. You do know that there is a little black switch up there, right?
