1993 vw passat speedo cable

The Uno dash has two small Allen bolts on the sides of the gauges. Unscrew them, and gently pull the instrument cluster forward and out of the dash. The speedo cable has a plastic clip that holds the cable to the speedometer. The clip unclips from the speedo with a gentle pull away from it.

speedometer drive gear in the transaxle where speedometer cable goes into transaxle.could just have loose speedometer cable bolt.

My parts book shows a speed sensor in the side of the transmission where the cable used to be.

You need to replace the speedometer cable it is binding up from wear.

uses a cable from the gearbox to the speedo head ,just remove the speedo head and drive a bit and see if cable turns or jack up a front wheel ,same difference ,think you will just need a new cable ,easy job to change

Slide under the vehicle and see if the cable to the speedo gear was re-installed. It may just be hanging there. If it is not a cable make sure you plugged in the connector to the speed sensor.

Each side of the sunroof has a cable. Over time, the track gets dirty and the mechanism sticks, which causes the cable to break. Continuing to use the sunroof will cause additional components to break. Repair involves removing the headliner. I spent $700+ to get mine repaired, which involved spending about $400 on special order replacement parts. most of the older cars have a cable driven speedo but newer cars are elecitronic it could be the little motor behined the gages or the wiring going down to the tranny check the cheepest first

im not sure about the speedometer but im pretty sure that your fuel sending unit needs to be replaced

you will have to remove the speedometer and whatever else most likely the insterment cluster.then attach the new speedo cable to the old one from inside the car then get under the vehicle disconnect the cable from the tranny and pull and wiggle the old one through the firewall and connect new one to the tranny.
