Purchaser durabrand pdv-709 portable dvd player at wal-mart on 11/15/07. stated warranty is one year no charge repair or replace. having issue & cannot contact manufacturer. please advise.

It sounds like you have a circuit overloading. But, is this one of the Durabrand models that have been recalled by Durabrand/Wal-Mart? They recalled most or all DVD players built since 2006 because they have a tendency to overheat and catch fire. Look into it by calling your local Wal-Mart.

Well Durabrand is a walmart brand but fry's sales these external batteries that will hold alot more play time then it would to replace this for a new battery. And the cost is $49.00. You will get extended play time for the fraction of the cost of replacment batteries!! I hope this does help you out.

The manufacturer of the unit went out of business in November of 2007. Wal Mart was aware of it at the time and continue to sell the units. As a result Wal Mart is exchanging the item for one of equal or lesser value.

Durabrand is a private label tradename of Wal-Mart.

I've been told they have been exchanging them regardless to the standard return policy because Wal Mart wan't in good faith doing business with a manufacturer that they knew was going out of business. So for good PR, there exchanging them with a player or equal or lesser value.
