My player will be playing a movie and the DVD will stop and freeze up. I either have to turn it off, or restart the movie, and that usually doesn't work.
What might be happening is a misread of the disk or a buffer error, these happen often, and can be fixed sometimes by cleaning the lens, cleaning and relubricating the guide rails and making sure the rubber bumper gromets are not worn down. Now these are all of the mechanical things you can do. The problem could also be a bad memory sector in the play back buffer, or a store and hold voltage could be off a bit (indication of a bad capacitor). I hope this helps.

I have the same problem. The issue is the player's inablility to read the second layer of information. I have found no solution to the problem.

I've cleaned the lens and that didn't help. What else can I do? I don't know what you mean by cleaning and relubricating the guide rails??
