My HP PSC 950 keeps saying align ink cartridges. I replaced my black cartridge, and have tried aligning many times. Took out and put back in cartridge, but still not luck. Any suggestions? [email protected]

You printer maybe lock in alignment status.
You could try a hardware reset
Removed both of your cartridges
Unplug the printer
Wait at least 30 minutes
Replug back the printer
Install back the ink cartridges and align

Just installed a old printer i had bought hp psc 950. Message 'press enter to align; wont go away. I dont think it prints a complete test page. Also I put in a 45 cartridge which hp say sis compatible...

Hello,

I disagree with a driver issue at this point. The printer wants to align the ink thus this has nothing to do with the software layer of the operating system. However if you purchased compatible ink but it says its the wrong ink you would need to visit Hp.com and check for any firmware software to update the printer.

Many cases people just purchase the wrong version ink witch would cause the error. I would not recommend refilling the 15 cartridge, your better off just purchasing a new number 15.

Please check HP.com for any firmware updates for your printer.
Please purchase another 15 cartridge then re run the align function again.

If all steps fail you might have a issue with the print head or nozzle, witch you better off just purchasing a new all in one Hp trow away.

All in one printers in my humble opinion if they cost under $200 bucks they don't last these days. Real good printers are over $200 and carry more then 1 year parts and labor such as Epson.

Thanks for using Fixya,

Best Regards

On an HP PSC 950, I'm getting a repeated "Press Enter to Align Cartridges" message when I try to copy. Got a response from a previous expert that wasn't even applicable to this model, and no response...

hello, the reason your printer is constantly trying to align cartridges, is it did not complete the alignment, machine must complete alignment, so this message will go away, this machine requires all #15 black ink cartridge and #78 color ink cartridge, it requires the color ink to be working since it uses either yellow or magenta ink for calibration, also black ink has to working for this to work. now if the ink cartridges are known good ink or printing ink cartridges, then the problem maybe the sensor that detects the color when it prints, you may try with a soft wet or damp paper towel, when cover is open as if you are replacing the inks, unplug printer from power, move carraige to left alittle bit more, on the right hand side of carraige, you might see a black piece of plastic, behind that is the sensor, use the wet towel and wipe the bottom part of carraige and sensor, do this several times. now go ahead and close machine and power up, see if machine will pickup paper, print the calibration page. if all is working it should pass.

Hp PSC 950 gives me a message to remove and check black cartridge

Did you remove the tape from the contacts of the new black cartridge? If so once the new one is in, unplug the printer from power and power it back on, it should do a full check after a power on off.

Press enter to align cartridges

I topped off the ink and pressed enter and set up at the same time...I didn't have to do the page alignment again and my copies seemed pretty good. Thank you to the site for the tips!!! Happy Day connien2003
