Sounds like the radiator is OK...if you cannot see any visible leaks...if you have inspected upper and lower radiator hoses and connections...it could be the water pump...however you should be able to see some antifreeze around the water pump pulley...changing the water pump on your Oldsmobile is not a major job...you do not have to remove any motor mounts to do this...only if your serpentine belt is worn and needs replacement...your Olds will require the removal of the upper motor mount in order to change the serpentine belt...sounds like you are on the right track...:)

Antifreeze leak

The hoses could seem ok but have tiny cracks in them that you can't see if they were not replaced. With antifreeze the flange the hose goes on could be rusting from antifreeze and cutting the hose. Cut the end of the hose past the clamp mark if there is enough slack. and put back on. The clamp could either be too tight and cutting the hose on the metal flange or not tight enough. Squeeze the hose and if you see cracking in the hose replace it. Also, if you over fill it it could be a problem or you got a bad radiator. If it is a tiny leak in the radiator you can use radiator stop leak. http://picsbox.biz/key/radiator%20leak%20sealant. Check all the hoses and clamps and make sure the belt on the water pump is ok too. Good luck. They are a great car and worth the effort especially if you havea V6.

Leaking engine coolant

Can you see the leaking fluid under your hood, or car? If so, you should be able to trace the leak to a hose, water pump seal, thermostat housing, intake gasket, overflow bottle, radiator? If not, the antifreeze leak could be around the intake manifold...catch this before it starts to leak internally...meaning watger in your oil...:( Most of these leak repairs are inexpensive...keep me posted. Hope this helps.

Why my oldsmobile alero 1999 wont keep water in

CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AROUND THE RADIATOR LOOK DOWN BETWEEN COOLING FANS AND RADIATOR SIDES FOR SIGNS OF ANTIFREEZE.CHECK ALL RADIATORS HOSES AND HEATER HOSES.IF ALL LOOK GOOD CHECK ENGINE OIL FOR COOLANT LEAKS.IF OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE COOLANT LEAKING IN CRANK CASE.YOU HAVE A HEAD GASKET LEAK.YOU NEED TO CHANGE OIL + FILTER. GET THE HEAD GASKET FIX.BECAUSE LEAK IN THE CRANK CASE WILL LOCK UP THE ENGINE.IF CRANK CASE OIL LOOKS OKAY.YOU DONT HAVE THE COOLANT CORRECT MIXTURE.YOU SHOULD HAVE 50/50 ANTIFREEZE AND WATER.

I am not sure if it the water pump, but we are losing water and there does not seem to be any leak in the coolant reservoir.

A water pump would not likely cause loss of water, mainly overheating problems.First fill the radiator full and the overflow full, you can use water to do this,it is not necessary to waste antifreeze. You do not need a 100% mix of antifreeze.During winter where it gets below freezing, you really only need about 70% antifreeze to prevent freeze.Maybe a little more if you are 1 or 2 states from Canada. If you open the hood and let the car run, watch the tubes and the radiator and the hoses, follow anything hooked up to the radiator. If you end up getting a big leak or puddle, dilute it down with tons of water.Birds for some reason like the taste of antifreeze however it kills them.Good luck! How much work is it to fix a leak. it is spraying out anti freeze up by the motor. It looks like maybe the where the seal may go

If the leak is a hose, not a big deal. Drain antifreeze disconnect hose, instal new hose, refill antifreeze. If the leak is a water pump also not a big deal, same procedure.
If the leak is in the radiator, a bit more complicated. Radiator can be replaced or repaired by a radiator shop.
If leak is coming from somewhere else on the engine, could be more serious, like a gasket leak. If this happened you would get fluids mixing ( oil/gas)
Good luck. A Haynes manual is a good investment for your car.

1986 oldsmobile cutlass ciera overheating. the car is leaking antifreeze, maybe a water pump, and whenever I accelerate it makes a rattling noise.

Sounds like a water pump , but would need to know where antifreeze is leaking from to help you solve this. There are several things that will make a car overheat , you just have to narrow down the problem and eliminate possibilities until you find the source of the problem

Leaking antifreeze

Check your hoses entering your block and radiator. you may need to bring your vehicle into a garage and ask for a "Pressure Test" this will indicate if you have a crack or leak.
Good Luck.

Why would the engine coolant leak out from under the engine versus at the radiator?

It can come from any of the rubber hoses that link from engine to heater core or a non properly installed hose or the water pump.
