I read the rules from Ohio and they apparently have some guidelines that are not listed on that website.
(A) For purposes of ascertaining, defining, and measuring ambient air quality, nitrogen
dioxide shall be measured by the methods stated in division (B) of this regulation or

be corrected to standard conditions for purposes of comparing measurements with
the ambient air quality standard set forth in rule 3745-23-01 of the Administrative

(B) Concentrations of nitrogen dioxide shall be determined through the use of a reference
method required by 40 CFR 50.11 based on 40 CFR Part 50, Appendix F, or through
the use of continuous sampling and recording devices as approved by USEPA in
accordance with 40 CFR Part 53 and designated reference or equivalent methods.

Can you give me the specs from the echeck?

Nitrogen oxide is directly related to heat. Try running the test again when the engine is not that hot or try retarding the ignition timing just a few degrees.

Exchange #4 coil with #2 coil, clear code, start vehicle and re check
for codes. If the code indicates a problem in #2 cylinder we will need to
replace coil. Replace coil, test drive vehicle and confirm repair. GOOD
LUCK..
make sure you check all you relays and i would suggest replacing the starter anyways cause it could be acting up.i had the same problem and a new starter fixed it.
Log onto www.partstrain.com. I believe they have Catalytic converters for your pathfinder for under $200.00, there OEM direct fit which means no cutting other then removing the old bolts.
If it is the Catalytic converter you can always buy it from on line and have a muffler shop install it like speedy or midas. Make sure you ask for stainless bolts and nuts.
Before you go through all the trouble, re checktheDTC codes. Most of the time it's the O2 sensors that go bad and i question the garage charging you so much for the replacement of a catalytic converter.
Good luck and keep me posted.
most timing belts go much longer. i am asuming the dealer recommends it or you probably wouldn't ask.it is not an easy or cheap job. i am a big fan of if it ain't broke don't fix it. my truck has almost 200k with the original on...some motors are damaged when the timing belt breaks..ask your dealer why it is recommended and go from there..Good luck
Change the oil, this should lower it enough to get you through, also run the car on the freeway if possible to heat up the catalytic converter as much as possible, leave it running and wait for the test to be run, I was a smog tech for years and these are the tricks I used to get cars to pass that were as close to the limit as yours.
