Check Paper Light Blinking
Figure 1: Check Paper light blinking At the start or in the middle of a print job, the Check Paper light begins to blink. The unit will not print. If the unit is connected to a computer and the HP software has been installed, one of the following messages is displayed:

  • There is a paper jam (or misfeed). Clear the jam and press the Enter, Resume, or Okay button on the hp psc.
  • The unit is out of paper. Load more paper and press the Enter, Resume, or OK button on the hp psc.
If both the Check Paper and the Check Print Cartridge lights are blinking simultaneously, or if the computer message is The print cartridge carriage is stalled , click here for troubleshooting information . Step 1: If the unit is out of paper, load more paper
  1. Move the paper guide out, load the paper, then adjust the paper guide. Make sure the paper is flat in the tray. Figure 2: Load paper
  2. Press the On/Resume button. Figure 3: On/Resume button
If the unit is loaded with paper and the light is still blinking, go on to the next step. Step 2: Remove jammed paper from the rear of the unit
  1. Unplug the product.
  2. Press the tab on the left side of the rear access door and remove it. Figure 4: Unlatching the rear access door by pressing the tab on the left
  3. Remove all the jammed paper and foreign material. Pull the paper slowly and gently to avoid tearing it or damaging the print mechanism. Avoid touching the internal components.
  4. Replace the rear access door. Put the pins on the right end of the door into the holes on the right side of the rear access area. Then snap the door shut. Figure 5: Door pins in product holes
Step 3: Check the front of the unit for jammed paper
  1. Open the cartridge access door in the front of the unit. Figure 6: Open the cartridge access door
  2. Pull out any jammed paper or other foreign material you were not able to remove from the rear. Pull the paper slowly and carefully to avoid tearing it or damaging the print mechanism.
  3. Close the cartridge access door and plug the product back in.
How to avoid paper jams
  • Only insert paper into the paper tray until it meets resistance - do not push it farther in.
  • Make sure the paper is flat in the paper tray and the guide is adjusted to the width of the paper.
  • Do not add paper while the unit is printing.
  • Remove printed pages frequently.
  • Do not use paper that is too thin, too slick, or that stretches.
  • Do not use torn or creased paper. Paper that has been printed previously may cause jams.
  • Make sure the rear access door is securely fastened.
  • If you follow all these guidelines and still have frequent paper jams, you may need to clean the paper rollers.
Cleaning paper rollers
  1. Turn off the unit, then unplug the power cord.
  2. Remove the rear access door. See the picture above.
  3. Wipe the paper rollers with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled or bottled water. Rotate the rollers with your fingers to clean all the way around. Figure 7: Paper rollers
  4. Allow the rollers to dry completely, then replace the rear access door. Put the pins on the right end of the door into the holes on the right side of the rear access area, then snap the door shut.
  5. Plug the unit back in and turn it on.

The red triangle light with the "!" in it keeps flashing. I've just printed some things off but now it's not printing. Need it to print obviously..

ATTENTION light(triangle): Indicates that the print-cartridge door is open, print cartridge is missing, and other errors.

If ATTENTION and READY light is blinking:

Printer initialization
The printer is initializing.
No action is necessary.

Cleaning mode
A cleaning page is printing.
Wait until the cleaning page has finished and the printer is in the Ready state.
This could take up to two minutes.

If ATTENTION and READY light is on:

Fatal error
Turn off the printer, and then unplug the printer power cord for 30 minutes.
Plug the printer power cord into the power outlet, and then turn the printer on.
If the error persists, replace the printer.

If ATTENTION light is blinking and READY light is off:

  1. Attention: door open, no print cartridge, or media jam
The printer is in an error state that requires operator intervention.
Check the following:
? The print cartridge door must be completely closed.
? The print cartridge is correctly installed.
? There is no media jam.

2. Out of memoryThe printer is out of memory.
The page you are printing might be too complex for the printer's memory capacity.
Try lowering the resolution.

The "on-off" light is flashing steadly... while

The flashing light could either indicate a cartridge problem or the printer carrier has stalled.
Test the cartridges one by one and do the printer hardware test (refer to the relevant document for your printer) to establish which one is defective. The defective cartridge needs to be changed. To do the hardware test, follow the steps below:
  1. Switch the printer off.
  2. Put one sheet of paper into the paper feeder.
  3. Press and hold the power button and the paper feed button for three seconds until the power light comes on.
  4. Release both buttons. After three seconds, the printer will start to print. You should obtain a page containing a series of horizontal color lines, and a thick black line below these. All the lines should be solid.
  5. When the test is complete, switch off the printer. NOTE: If you do not turn off the printer, it will keep on printing this page.
To check if you have a cartridge carrier stall, follow steps below:
  1. First unplug the printer.
  2. Move the cartridges to the left by hand. In order to do this, you need to grip the top of the carrier belt (a black/grey belt with cog-like teeth) and pull it towards the right-hand side of the printer.
  3. Once the cartridges have been moved across, you can clip them out.
  4. Try to print without the cartridges in the carrier.
  5. If you no longer have a carrier stall, put the cartridges back into the carrier and clip them into place.
Try to print a document to check if printer is working properly now.
If problem continues, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

The color ink cartridge that is " blinking " is

Don't buy Canon as they absolutely ROB you for the ink!! They are worse than ****** dealers! At least HP allows you to use non (rip-off) OEM cartridges without all the hassle! My printer will be thrown out after the ink runs out as I will not be ripped-off by Canon again!

E5 is a Cartridge cannot be recognized error.
Reinstalling the cartridge could clear the alarm.
If this does not work,
Removed both ink cartridges.
Turn off printer and unplug fron electrical outlet.
Wait at least 5 minutes.
This will let the printer reset itself.
Plug printer back in and turn on.
Printer will cycle and an E5 will appear.
Installed back ink cartridges.

Light is flashing and will not print

dude..u didnt mention printer's make n model nyhow give a try to dis one..

Remove all the cartridges and the paper from the printer...Power off the printer...unplugg the power cable from the back of the printer...while printer is unplugged from the power..press n hold the power button for atleast 60 seconds then release it..open the back door of the printer and look for any paper jam...remove paper from behind (if any) and roll the rollers in upward direction from behind..close the back door and connect the power cable to the printer and power on the printer..Look for the cartridge slots and clean it wid a lynt free cloth and the copper contacts of the cartridges as well...then insert only one cartridge (black or color) and close the cartridge door and check for any blinking lights on the printer...similarily repeat it with the other cartridge..by this u wud get to know if any cartridge is faulty? If u get blinking lights on the printer ...that means there is some problem,,,
Once you see the steady green light on the power..it means the printer is ready..You can also print a test page..."Press n Hold the power button down...while holding the power button down...either press "Down Arrow button" 4 Times OR "Red X button once"...then release the Power button to print the test print..
If it prints ..u r the master !!!
Best of luck

Remember if there is any blinking light,,the printer wont prin..
if the light blinks around the drops..it means there is cartridge issue and you may even replace the cartridges..make sure u remove the pink tape carefully before inserting the cartridges.
