There is god spark from what I can tell. This engine is on a power washer and requires a seperate fuel tank. the hose leading to the fuel pump has a shreader type fittin on the end of it so I removed it and stuck the hose into a can of fuel. it sems that the engine isn't geting fuel. Things I have done o get it to run for a few seconds: If I spray starter fluid into the intake it will run for a few seconds so I took the section of hose that connects what I believe to be te fuel pump to to carb; filled it with fuel and blew very hard into the line while turning over the key start and it will fire up for a few seconds. Maybe the problem lies in the fuel pump??? Do I need to have a constant fuel pressure to the engine? There is god spark from what I can tell. I took apart what seemed to be a vaccuum style fuel pump and fond the blockage. Thanks for your help!I took apart what seemed to be a vaccuum style fuel pump and fond the blockage. Thanks for your help!

Sounds like the fuel pump has failed, it is located inside the fuel tank. To test this theory get a spray can of starting fluid from the hardware store and spray it into the air intake of the engine, if it starts and then stall out you have no fuel reaching the engine.
the first thing to check is the temperature sender to computer output. if thevco.mputer thinkd its 80 degrees when in facrlt its 20 deg. outside...the fuel mixture will be two lean. an easy test...squirt a spray of carb cleaner into the intake...replace inletvhosre...try to start ....if it fires right up....means mixtures too lean....check for cracked vacuum hoses..previously mentioned temp sender signal.....and the simple things.. how old are spark plugs...and change fuel filter yearly...
You have a vacuum leak on the intake.Start the engine and spray carb cleaner around all of the vacuum hoses and see where the engine REVS UP while you are spraying there... that is your leak area... correct it.
Sounds like either a vacuum leak, a TPS throttle position sensor, an AIC air idle control valve, or worst case scenerio, an intake manifold gasket. Try spraying brake cleaner directly onto intake manifold at the gasket. If idle lowers, that is the problem. Also spray all visible vacuum hoses and listen for idle drop. Listen for air hissing as well. Good luck let me know if these are good tips
pull the sparkplug[s] spray some PB Blaster inside, then let it set like that for a few days....then try to kick syart without having the ignition on...if it starts turning....then replace fresh plugs and you'll probably needs to spray some ETHER [ starting fluid ] in the intake to compensate for the oil you sprayed inside
Try the WD-40 spray in intake of throttle body with air intake hose off, to see if it will kick at all, even for a second or 2. We need to confirm whether your losing fuel or spark when it dies. Ignition & fuel, can cause similar symptoms in this case.
