The Greenfield clutch (drive belt) is adjusted by spring pressure pulling a long rod that has serations on it. Either the belt has run out of adjustment (= new belt needed) or the adjuster has stuck. Lift up the seat and push the adjusting rod that has a big spring attached to see if you can move it towards the front. Look at the pulley beside the rod, if the belt has stretched too far, the pulley will be hard up against its slot. The pulley moves towards the front to tighten the belt. I just push with my leg to get another "click" out of the adjusting rod. New belts are cheap too.

Tap the adjuster rod with spring on it under seat. Mine gets stuck sometimes as well. Tap it in a bit and try it again. If there is still a bit of slip then another slight tap.

Have greenfield fast cut 34 mower replace drive belt but have problem going forward up hills clutch is worn half mm could clutch be glazed

Are you sure your new belt is the proper length A quarter inch too long could make it slip. Something to try is spray your belt with belt dressing and see if that helps That will help stop it from slipping.I had to do that with one of mine when my belt was not the right size. I shot spray about once a week one summer.

My craftsman tractor wont pull itself up a hill. Runs fine but just comes to a stop when trying to go up a hill. Maby the ground drive belt is slipping????

Sounds like your drive belt is slipping alright. Need to tighten your clutch rod. One end of rod adjust. Have someone help you, move the clutch petal and your helper watch and see rod moves.

My MTD 12.5 hp briggs and stratton ride on mower is losing forward speed as though a clutch is slipping especially going up hills or slopes. MIKE

You didn't indicate what model so I don't know if it is hydrostatic drive or not. If it is not hydrostatic drive, it is most likely a worn belt or clutch adjustment. If you don't have your manual you can download one here:http://www.mtdlawnmowerparts.com/manuals.php
If it is hydrostatic drive it stil could be the drive belt or low water in hydrostatic transmission, or even water in the oil in the hydrostatic transmission. Always list model number when asking questions.

Cutting deck on greenfield evolution mower will not disengage

Usually this is caused by badly worn belt or incorrect type of belt fitted, check allignment, tension, belt size should be marked as A... not 13A..... if marked as the latter it is an "automotive" type belt not suited to "slipping" when belt loosened to disengage cutter. Check also for the belt has not rolled over in the groove.

Mower drive slips , not belt clutch, assembly. any adjustment? or anyway to fix it?

I hate to tell you this, but not much you can do. I had a toro wheel horse 12.5 hp the drive belt would slip, made it a little better by putting on new belt w/belt dressing, but would still do it especially under load or up hill,or starting in higher gear. Unfortanately,it was one of toros downfalls on a lot of models, and FYI if you think altering the tension pulley to hold the belt back more will solve it,your wrong, all that will do is make you lose use of your clutch.

We mow 2 acres with a Greenfield ride-on. Sometimes have to cut long grass by slipping the clutch to get slow forward speed. Problem is that the clutch system occasionally locks into forward or (worse...

Hi i have seen this with most greenfield models The only way to fix this problem is to replace the drive clutch assy as it ends up to costly to replace the worn parts : shaft, clutch plates & drive pulleys.
In most cases replacing these parts has led to a new assy six months later.
