Took my vaccuum in for service recently and not sure I got my vaccuum back. Doesn't work very good and looks a little different to me. Trying to verify the serial number to compare to my records....is it the bar code number on the bottom?

The serial number for all "G" models, containing 10 digits, is located on the side of the machine above the hole the bag attaches to.

Vacuume will not turn on. I checked for power in the switch and there was. What else should I check for?

SHORT carbon BRUSHES in the motor look on one of the two brushes the autostop protection protrudes at the front of the brush out. replace not direct the brushes , look for a healthy brass-colored wire of the stator field and armature if its dark beware of a short time of pleasure if the collectors are damaged if the engine has had its operating hours because of heating by fine dust cocked filters by time new brushes can have be shorted in a very short time again , and therfore is a brushes replace to expensive .

or a electric field contact a little change if its not a defect collector in the armature turn the motor a little on the top fan and switch the vaccuum on replace the motor if its run with bad noise replace the motor directly by a equivalent FIXAPART brand or any good equivalent , differs on the age of the whole vaccuum what the customer preferred.

How to Prolong the life of your Vacuum leaner

There are several types of vacuum cleaners these days. Most people now seem to use the upright bagless vacuums since you do not have to buy the filter bags. Those vacuums are fine, if you take the proper care of them. Ithink it is a bit messy. In order for you to really prolong the life of any vaccuum, you must make sure the machine has plenty of circulation. In order for the vaccuum do the great job you expect, you have to do a little maintenance on it.
  • Each time you run the vaccuum,
  • Take out all filters (foam & the plastic inserts)
  • Wash the filters out with warm water.

Smells like the motor is burning. observing sparks. It the motor cooked and is it just time for a replacement?

If you're observing sparks, then yes, just get a new one. With the low prices of good vaccuums its not worth starting a fire with your vaccuum. If it just smells like the motor is burning, check the belt and make sure its rotating freely and if you have an attachment, make sure the brush on the vaccuum is not being stopped while using the attachment. However, if you are seeing sparks,,,, definately time to junk it

Dry/Wet vac is blowing instead of vaccuum

Check to see if the plastic ball is stuck . There should be a ball under the motor , make sure it moves freely. Make sure your vacum lines are not plugged . Best of luck Ed.

Make sure the bagless canister is snug in place. This will affect the suction also.

No Suction

Your Power head is blocked with hair or dirt,,or the hose which connects the Upright with the power head is blocked.
Try taking a steel coat hanger apart (straighten it out) and then push it into the pickup hose to remove blockage.

I recently put a call into dyson regarding a problem with my vaccuum and a supervisor was supposed to get back to me. no one has. back in august, we were on the phone with a technician regarding a problem...

Unless you can Dyson to intervene and have this repair covered under their warranty, You are stuck to pay for the service. Clogs may not be covered under warranty, but I don't know how their warranty states. If it says that if you have a problem, take it in for repair, and it will be repaired to the orginal state, then a clog should be covered. But some shops will charge an adminstration type fee even if it is under warranty as the warranty doesn't pay hardly anything.

Wet dry vac suction not woking

The wet and dry vaccuums should normally have the dust filter removed when used for wet work. If the filter was left in, it will certainly be clogged and useless. I would suggest trying the unit with no filter, just to check there is good suction. If there is, a replacement filter is required. If there is still little or no suction, then it is possible that there is a blockage within the impeller area somewhere. Wet dust/dirt tends to stick really well to the impeller blades, reducing their efficiency to point of almost no suction. I'm not sure if you can get that far into your unit, if you can, it would be worth using a stiff brush to remove and adhered debris.
