Are you sure that the frequencies you programmed are active in your area? Try a weather band search (press Func and Svc) to verify that the scanner is working properly. If you receive one or more NOAA weather broadcast channels then you need to visit www.RadioReference.com and check their database for active freqs in your area. If you cannot receive weather then you have an antenna or receiver problem.

Your BC72XLT SCAN feature samples one frequency/channel at a time, but it should only stop on active frequencies. If it's stopping on inactive frequencies you may need to adjust the squelch. For more details on programming and operating your scanner you can download and print the factory manual, at no cost, here:

Programmimg help

The BC72XLT is a fairly simple unit to program, but you will first need to know what frequencies to put into it. You can find active frequencies for your area by visiting RadioReference.com or CityFreq.com. Below is a link to the manual for your scanner. It will walk you through the programming steps.

How do I program my Uniden BC72XLT race scanner?

1. Press HOLD. Then enter the channel number
where you want to store a frequency, then press
FUNC and PGM. The channel number appears.
2. Use the number keys and to enter the
frequency (including the decimal point) you want
to store.
3. Press E to store the frequency into the channel.
Notes:
• If you entered an invalid frequency in Step 2,
ERROR appears and the scanner beeps three
times. Enter a valid frequency.
• The scanner automatically rounds the entered
number to the nearest valid frequency.
For example, if you enter 151.473 (MHz), your
scanner accepts it as 151.475.

How to program Uniden bc72xlt

It looks like Uniden went out of their way to complicate the programming process on the BC72XLT. To program a frequency into it, first turn the scanner ON, then press the HOLD button to stop scanning. enter the channel number that you wish to program (01, 02, etc.), press FUNC and PGM (E), followed by the frequency - including the decimal point. Finally, press E. Pressing HOLD again should advance the scanner to the next channel where you can start again. Need the manual? You can download it here:
