My tape player won't work with the adapter or fresh batteries. I can get the buttons to push down but the recorder doesn't spin the two little things that go in the tape holes. I know it's getting power because I can adjust the volume and hear white noise.

Have you made sure the "up/down" button is not depressed? It's the furthest button to the right of the player if you are looking at it head-on. If it is depressed, it will cause the needle to simply hover above the spinning record. A good thing if you want to "pause" your musical experience, but not much help if you are trying to enjoy some sonic sensations.
Thank you for the solution of moving the arm to the right and wait for the click, now my turntable works and Keely Smith is playing and sounding great!
Dear Answer seeker> What is IT as reference to "It won't turn on". Perhaps if you were to add references to the Product or Device a technical support person would be of service.
check your disc - do you have the little tab slide over to prevent recording? (like a cassette has on the top)? Also, very important with MiniDiscs, or home CD recorders, when you press STOP, you still need power for another 30 seconds or so for the unit to write the TOC - table of contents. Without the TOC, your disc cannot find where anything is. So , make sure you have a FRESH battery and/or AC adapter when recording. Try a new blank disk with fresh batteries, okay?
1. PlayStation 2 systems do not handle tapes, but CDs and DVDs. No wonder you have broken it if you inserted a tape in it. 2. There is no radio in a PlayStation 2 system. 3. On a PlayStation 2 system, the button with a red dot on it is the power button, and it turns green when the power is on. 4. You cannot record, especially not on tapes, with a PlayStation 2 system. 5. You usually don't play a PlayStation 2 in the kitchen, but in the living room since it's meant to be plugged in your TV.
Here's the diagnostic : you do not own a PlayStation 2 system.
You have been ripped off by whoever sold you this piece of **** under the name of "PlayStation 2 system".
