Yes you must remove the drum from it which requires popping up the top and taking of the belt from the motor. Make sure you look at how the belt goes on so you can put it back when your done. Also make sure to unplug the unit completely as the dryer runs on 220 and it can kill you if you get electricuted. One thing you might want to check is that in your fuse box where the dryer fuse is it will often have a double switch and sometimes it trips just half the circuit and it will still run the motor but not heat the element so go and reset both sides of the breaker.

KENMORE DRYER JUST STOPPED HEATING UP WHAT CAN I DO TO REPAIR IT?

Replace the Heating Element. The heating element is usually located behind a panel on the back. To replace you will need to remove the back cover of the dryer, then locate the heating element. The heating element is screwed into place and is easy to unscrew and replace. Be sure to have the dryer unplugged while doing this.
Here is the part for it:

How to change the Heating Element in a Kenmore Elite Electric Dryer?

If the dryer is running but not heating, then the heating element needs to be replaced. The procedure is as follows:--- 1) First of all unplug the dryer from wall outlet.
2) Remove the front service panel of the dryer.
3) After the front service panel is removed. You will see the heating element wires and heat shield.
4) Remove the heat shield by plucking the wires out from the heat shield.
5) Also remove the screws holding the heating element.
6) The heating will have to be moved a bit to come out easily. Before removing the heating element out. Please note down the position of old heating element. So while placing the new heating element you don’t face any problem.
7) Replace the element with a new element.
8) Refit all the parts removed while removing the old heating element properly.
These will help. Thanks.

My kenmore HE2 is not drying clothes. It turn s on and spins clothes but does not have heat. It is an all electic front loading dryer

If the dryer is not heating at all the three things that you want to check are going to be the heating element, the high limit thermostat and the thermostat. The high limit and the normal thermostat are going to be located on the heating element itself. All of these can checked with a volt meter set to check continuity. To access these depends on if the dryer has a two piece front or a solid front. If solid, Then you will just remove the back of the dryer and the heating element and thermostats will be located on the right hand side as your facing it, If a two piece, you'll need to remove the kick plate and the parts will be located on the right side once again. Just remember to unplug the machine , 220v hurts, trust me.

There is only cold air in my kenmore elect dryer

The motor runs on 120VAC. The heating element requires 208/240VAC. Cycle the dryer circuit breaker. Other than a simple issue like that, the problem could be a bad heating element, thermostat, high limit control, thermal fuse, motor centrifugal switch, timer or electronic control. It can also be a wiring issue.
