If is only 10 month it still have guarantee. So go where you buy it to see what they can do. MOBO,s don,t go burn at this time of your PC. Or sometimes a internal battery can resolve it. The laptop probably isn't charging. Could be a bad d/c connector on the laptop or the battery is bad. Remove the battery and plug in the a/c adapter and see if it powers on. Wiggle the a/c plug in gently while pressing the power button on the laptop. It powers on and off briefly then I'd say it's the d/c jack on the laptop, bad sodder joint.
Remove the battery and plug the ac adaptor in check wethere the light on the port where you connect the ac adaptor glows or not, if no then check the wethere the ac adaptor is getting warm or not after you plug it in for few minutes if not then ac adaptor has to be replaced. If the light on the port is glowing then it is likely that the power supply of the notebook has gone bad as it is not able to switch to ac adaptor or the port where you connect the ac adaptor to the notebook has a short circut when the acadaptor pin is connected , better try with a different ac adaptor to be sure wethere the issue is with ac adaptor or the notebook. My best wishes
It should boot when connected directly to the power outlet through the laptop adaptor. If it is not boot, then the adaptor might not be supplying the needed power to boot it up.
If it is possible, try to isolate the issue. Charge your new battery using another laptop. Then plug it in your laptop to see if it works. If it will work, then it is the AC adaptor of your laptop that is defective. If the charged battery still won't make the laptop boot, then there is something wrong with your laptop hardware. If could be a motherboard issue of your laptop.
Hi, Yes, it should run off AC power even if the battery is removed. Sounds like either the motherboard or your AC adaptor might be failing. I would start by trying the AC adaptor with another dell to verify it it's not dead.
do a power drain
1. shut down the comp 2. unplug the ac adaptor 3. take out the battery 4. without any power connect to the comp press and hold the power button for 60 seconds 5.after 60 seconds plug the battery 6. plug the ac adaptor 7. turn on the comp
Hi Steve, If you haven't gotten any batteries to work properly at all and the problems are different each time, I would say the motherboard is shorting out the batteries and causing weird problems. One last thing to try if possible..
Try a known good working battery, if that battery doesn't work then its verified that the motherboard is bad. If the known good working battery works in that laptop then you got a bad batch and it will be a battery problem.
Since your laptop turns on with the ac adaptor means that the ac adaptor is good.
Take out the battery and then try the different ac adaptors. If you still get no lights on the laptop then the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced. Just make sure that you know at least one of your ac adaptors are good.
If the adaptors have lights and they turn on then you know the ac adaptor your working with is good. Also make sure they are plugged into a good working outlet.
How old is your Machine?
