I have a wall mount vent free heater and a 10 gal propane tank how do hook it up so it will work
First off, Dave, the tank cannot be inside the house, motor home, camper, garage, etc. By the way, I believe your 10 gallon tank, is what's called a 40LB cylinder. Anyway, 10 gallons is not going to last very long, if the heater you plan to install is 20,000 Btu output or higher. If it's going in a bedroom, the maximum Btu output can not exceed 10,000 Btu's.
To install one, you'll need 1/2" flexible copper gas piping. An in-line LP Gas regulator, that has the capacity to carry whatever the maximum Btu output of you heater is. In addition, you will need a 1/2 NPT to 3/8" Flare nipple to go into the back of the heater. Assorted Flare Nuts in assorted sizes for the gas line connections.
Tools needed: Flaring tool, 2 adjustable wrenches, Phillips Head Screw Driver & Leak Detector Solution. To make sure it's done correctly, a Mechanical/Plumbing Permit from you city or county's Building Inspection Department. And last, but not least, a friend that has a lot of knowledge in the installation of Vent-free Supplemental Gas Heating Appliances.
If installed properly, these appliances are very safe. If installed improperly, they can be very dangerous.
Is this a hanging unit heater, a wall mounted heater or a portable heater? Is it ventless or supposed to be vented? Name the make and model so we can help you more specifically. Douglas
