Answering greeting My cat stepped on the machine on the windowsill and it recorded a portion of a tv program in the greeting setting. How can I reset it to the original greeting? I really like the voice that came with it. Thanks Martha

It's been a long time, but I just came across this in the manual and was going through these postings for myself. I don't know if this does it, but you could try manual's page 7 "RETURNING TO THE DEFAULT GREETING":

How do we program answering machine on dect 1735 cordless phone

Do you mean the Uniden DECT 1735? You can turn on the answering system from the base On/Off button. The rest takes the hanset or a call into the phone. Start with the phone in standby (no handsets in use). Press Menu on a handset. Use the Up/Down arrows to navigate to Answering Setup and press Menu again. To set the number of rings, navigate to Ring Time and press Menu again. Use the arrows to select a number of rings and press Menu to save. Press the Left arrow/Page key to go up to the Answering Setup menu. Press End to exit the menu system.

To set the greeting, you would navigate to Record Greeting in the Answering Setup menu. Press Menu. When you hear "Record Greeting", speak your message. Press Menu when you finish. Press End to save the message after you hear it repeated. Press Menu and wait for the "Record Greeting" prompt if you need to change the greeting.

The manual for this is available on the product site: https://www.uniden.com.au/product/dect-1735-2/. The direct link to the manual is currently https://www.uniden.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/DECT_17352_OM.pdf . See the section starting on page 20 for the different steps to set up the answering system.

I hope this helps.

This is from the attendant user guide. Don't ask me what a Conference Bridge Extension is though.

To recording your greeting:
1. Set the Supervisor Password, if necessary.
2. Call a Conference Bridge extension.
3. When the Conference Bridge extension answers, dial the
Supervisor Password and #.
16
4. Press * to skip the setting verification mode.
5. Press # to change the system settings.
6. Skip the steps until the Customized Greeting option is played.
7. Follow the voice prompt and record a new Customized Greeting.

How do i set the answering system on a uniden 1580-3 phone, mine is just background noise on the answering machine when someone calls in to leave a message

Here is the manual for your phone. You can download the manual and the instructions for setting up your answering machine are on page 43:

http://www.uniden.com/pdf/DECT1580-3om.pdf

Setting Up the Answering System
You can set up your answering system's features from the handset. Only one handset at a time can access the answering system menus.

Note: If you have multiple bases, select the base with answering system you want to access (see page 15).

Recording a Personal Greeting
Your answering system comes with a pre-recorded outgoing message or greeting that plays when you receive a call: "Hello, no one is available to take your call. Please leave a message after the tone." You can record your own personal outgoing greeting. Your recorded greeting must be between two seconds and thirty seconds long.

Press /mute. The system announces the number of new and old messages, then starts to play the messages unless it has no messages.

Press 5 to stop the announcements or message playback. You will hear intermittent beeps indicating that the system is in the command waiting mode.

Press 8 to start the recording. The system announces, "Record greeting." Begin recording after the announcement.

When you finish recording, press 8 again or press 5. You will hear a confirmation tone, and your recorded greeting plays back for you.

Selecting a Greeting

Once you have recorded a personal greeting, the phone automatically switches to your personal greeting. You can
also switch back and forth between the pre-recorded greeting and your own greeting at any time.

Press /mute. The system announces the number of new and old messages, then starts to play the messages unless it has no messages.

Press 5 to stop the announcements or message playback. You will hear intermittent beeps indicating that the system is in the command waiting mode.

Press 6. The system plays the current greeting.

I want to change my answering machine greeting

For the DECT2180, press Mesage/Mute on any handset to access the answering system. Wait for the announcements to be finished or press 5 to skip. Then press 8. Wait for the message "record greeting" then begin speaking. Press 8 to stop recording. The system will play back the greeting. Press End to save the greeting and exit the system.

For the DECT2080, press and hold Greet on the base. When you hear "record greeting", start speaking your message. Press Greet again or the play/stop button to stop recording your message. Press Greet again to play back the current outgoing message.

Which Uniden do you have? There are several models. Manuals for all of the current ones are here: http://www.uniden.com/index/manuals_results.cfm?cat=59 .

Most models will be similar. Setting a new message when you call into the system is a totally different issue and not all Uniden phones support the feature. Read your manual.

I hope this helps.

How do you set up the message for the answering machine? Lost the instructions that came with the unit. I know the phone has a menu, but not sure if this is where I would program the answering machine.

Greeting message
When the unit answers a call, callers
are greeted by a greeting message. You
can record your own greeting message
or use a prerecorded greeting
message.
Recording your greeting
message
You can record your own greeting
message (max. 2 minutes and 30
seconds). If you do not record a
greeting message, a prerecorded
greeting message is used.
1 {MENU}
2 {V}/{^}: “Answering device” i
{OK}
3 {V}/{^}: “Record greeting” i
{OK}
4 After the handset beeps, speak
clearly about 20 cm (8 inches) away
from the microphone.
5 To stop recording, press {OK}.
6 {OFF}
Using a prerecorded greeting
message
If you erase or do not record your own
greeting message, the unit plays a
prerecorded greeting message for
callers and ask them to leave
messages.

Nseed to reset message on answering machine

There are two models - The TRU8885 and the TRU8885-2 -
For the TRU8885 the manual PDF form >>>Click Here<<<
The solution is on page 24 + 57 It starts on Pg 24 as...

Record Greeting allows you to record a personal outgoing message (greeting) which
the answering system automatically plays when you receive a call.

1) Enter the Answring Setup menu, and then the
Record Greeting sub-menu (see "Entering the
Menu" on page 16). To record greeting press
[STA RT] appears.

2) Press the START soft key. You will hear “Record Greeting.“ The message counter
displays 30 and then begins to count down.

3) Position yourself near the base microphone and record your greeting.

4) When you are finished recording, press the STOP soft key. Your greeting will
playback for confirmation.

Selecting Your Greeting (Base only)

Select Greeting allows you to choose between the two outgoing messages, a prerecorded
message or your own greeting.

1) Enter the Answ. Setup menu, and then the
Select Greeting submenu (see "Entering the
Menu” on page 16). P lay back greetin g
appears, and the current outgoing message is
played. LCD is an example if you recorded your greeting.

2) Once you have recorded a personal greeting, press the CHANGE soft key to
choose the greeting. The selected outgoing message is played. Each time you
press the CHANGE soft key, the phone switches the outgoing message between
the prerecorded and the personal outgoing message.

There is more on the PDF - Just ask if you need more

For the TRU8885-2 is essentially the same. The manual PDF form >>>Click Here<<<

If we need to dig further, just ask! :) We are just a mouse click away!
Thanks

The pre recorded message on the answering machine has been lost.

I read thru the manual. There is nothing bout recovery of factory messages. If you recorded your own, try deleting it. Or unplug the base from power and try a reset. This is from the manual. At the end, I gave you a link to the manual!

Using a pre-recorded greeting
message
If you erase or do not record your own
greeting message, the unit plays a prerecorded
greeting message for callers
and asks them to leave messages. If the
message recording time (page 39) is set
to “Greeting only”, caller messages
are not recorded and the unit plays a
different pre-recorded greeting message
asking callers to call again.
