Normally there is a switch on the side or front that turns the wireless on. The FN function key located at the lower left portion of the keyboard toggles the wireless on and off if the switch is on. Normally you would Press and Hold the Fn function key then hit the correct F1 thru F12 key that toggles the wireless. The correct F1 thru F12 key to hit will have the wireless signal icon )))) on it. Or it will have the icon of a tower with the wireless signal )))).
Look on the side or in front of the laptop for the Wireless Switch. Also once the switch is turned on you can usually toggle the wireless by keystrokes. Normally you would Press and Hold the FN function key located on the left near the bottom on the keyboard then hit the correct F1 thru F12 key that toggles the wireless. The correct F1 thru F12 key to hit will have the icon of a wireless signal )))) or it might have the icon of a tower with the wireless signal )))).
You can turn ON the WLAN in two ways. The most common way is by flipping the physical WLAN switch ON. The switch is usually located at the front side of the computer (look below the light indicators at the bottom of the touchpad or at the left / right / side of the computer. On some computers, they're above the keyboard.
If that won't work, you might wanna try a combination of function key (Fn+ wireless key). For Toshiba laptops it's Fn+F8, and for Lenovo it's Fn+F5, Dell and HP usually uses Fn+F2 but every brand has a different combination so check the F1 up to F12 keys for the wireless symbol.
Ok, i dont know exaclty how to do this, but look for a wireless icon, or something that looks like a wireless representation on the F keys. ex: "F10, F11". Press FN and that key to turn on\off your adapter.
Wish i could help more,
Good luck
According to the laptop's quick guide this is how you enable and disable your wireless:
Radio components: Wireless LAN/ Bluetooth/UMTS
The installation of a wireless LAN module not approved by Fujitsu
Siemens Computers GmbH voids the permits issued for this device
(see chapter "Technical data", Page 22).
Depending on the device variant, wireless LAN, Bluetooth and/or UMTS may be integrated in your notebook.
On delivery, WLAN components are switched on, Bluetooth components off.
Switching the radio components on and off
Start the WirelessSelector using the key combination Fn + F1 .
The WirelessSelector enables you to switch the radio components activated in
BIOS Setup on and off individually.
BUWlMuireTtlSeososthLAN Press the key combination Fn + F1 to start the WirelessSelector.
The radio component indicator will be illuminated when one or more
radio components is switched on.
If you switch off the radio components, the Bluetooth module, UMTS and
wireless LAN transmission unit (antenna) will also be switched off.
You can enable or disable the radio components individually.
BIOS Setup allows you to specify which radio components can be switched on
and off using the key combination Fn + F1 .
Only those components that have been activated in BIOS Setup can be switched on and off using the key combination Fn + F1 .
Conversely, components that are deactivated in BIOS setup cannot be controlled using the key combination.
You can also activate and deactivate the radio components individually
in the BIOS Setup. You must have assigned the supervisor password in
order for this function to be available.
Pay attention to the additional safety notes for devices with radio
components provided in the "Safety" manual.
Details on using Wireless LAN can be found in the online help system
included in the Wireless LAN software.
You can find more information on how to use Bluetooth on the CD you
received with your Bluetooth software.
If you have a program for your wireless you should be able to bypass the button. You can also check in your BIOS to see if there is a way to keep it on. To get into the BIOS you will have to hit the DEL key or one of the F keys.
