I have computer speakers with a 12v DC 1.0A chord that used to connect to my old monitor. My new monitor does not have a plug in for this. Is there some way to power the speakers with something else? Thanks!

Go to your local tech shop and buy a universal (with lots of contacts or plugs) adapter for 12VDC 1.0A. Take note also of the +/- setting.

Connecting speakers to a pc

The 12v dc power supply is for the speakers. There should be a spot for it on them. All modern PCs use power speakers, since the sound cards have no amplifier.

Someone gave me an old Sylvania monitor (L15) Model no. PD-70FA but the 12V DC power cord is missing. It is not a standard type of powervcord and none of the stores I've been to (Staples, Office Depot,...

The power chord for this monitor is attached to a power adapter which converts mains voltage to 12 volts.
Check the power label on the monitor for the amp rating of the monitor and get an adapter that has an output of 12 volts and with the amp rating on the label or higher. Make sure the 0.3" power plug fits the monitor.

Try to start your computer into a safe mode and then remove the old graphic card driver but if you cant get to safe mode then probably theres a problem with your operating system. Consider reformat and install a fresh copy of any OS you prefered.

Need to know polarity of power supply for JBL

Look where the plug goes in
There will be a C shape with a dot in the middle. Follow the line attached to the dot and you will see a + or - which is the polarity. Next you need to know Voltage. Look in the same area, or on the label for this info. If there is NO info by the power plug, it might be AC, which has no polarity - just plug it in. The label may have this information and will say something like 12VDC or 12VAC that is the key. DC Matters (+ and -) AC does not.

Hi, for a 12v 2 ampers device any universal laptop power suply can be used. They usually are tesignedfor about 2-4 ampers so it won't be a problem. All you have to ake soure is the correct polarity, and the changeable dc plug.

good luck.

Speakers need power scource

Yes, a general purpose 12V DC power adapter can be bought easily from your local electricals shop.Should not cost much.

Alternatively you can look for a cordless phone or CD player adapter with 12V DC output.

No speaker hook up on new moniter

If your old monitor was a Compaq, it had slots for the speakers to hang on and provided the power for the speakers. The speakers still got their input from a cable that plugged into the computer sound output jack. If those speakers are the style Compaq supplied when I worked at a Compaq service shop, they originally came with metal stands that fit into slots on the back so you could stand them up on their own, and a 12-volt power adapter so you could use them without the monitor. If you don't have those pieces, you can buy a suitable power adapter (12 volts DC at 1 amp) at Radio Shack but the speaker stands are hard to find. You could try eBay, or just make a holder of some kind. (A friend of mine used those little wooden stands you can buy to display plates to hold her speakers when she got a new monitor. They worked out pretty well.)

Or you can replace the speakers. A new set would have everything you need. But those Compaq speakers sounded pretty good, so if they're still working you might want to keep them.

Output voltage of 120volt AC brick & approx dimensions

Any PC speakers that have a AC plug pak attached can probably use 12V simply cut off the AC plug packs lead that goes to the speakers, and connect up 12V ya should be good to go.. some connect with a Phono Plug, and usually the Outer is Minus Voltage and the Centre is Plus Voltage .. they are also generally Diode protected so a reversal shouldn't cause too many probs...
