The dryer runs but no heat. The igniter glows when you start the dryer for about 10-20 seconds then goes out but the gas never ignites. I have tried bypassing the high limit fuse in the vent and have already replaced the solenoid coils in the burner. The timer works when it is in no heat mode but when I try to use it on low or high heat the timer does not work and the dryer keeps running.

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

My gas dryer wont ignite. where do I start trouble shooting

Model number would help but I'll give some general info. Most Kenmore dryers are usually made by Whirlpool so I'll give info for that type dryer. The 1st thing to check on a no heat is if the glow bar ignitor is coming on. At the cycle start it should glow red hot or orange. If no glow the glowbar may be burned out and needs replaced. This is the most common problem in a gas dryer. If you see the orange glow for about 15 seconds and it goes out ---that is normal. That usually means you may have a bad magnetic coil on the top of the gas valve. There are actually 2 coils on the valve and if either one goes bad the valve will not open and let gas through to ignite. They need tested with a multimeter. Thats the 2 most common problems with gas dryers.

My Maytag gas dryer, Model No, LDG7500AAW will run but not heat. The igniter glows red, but the gas will not flow. What might be wrong?

Replace the 2 burner coils ,if the igniter keeps cycling trying to start the flame. If it doesn't replace the flame sensor mounted on the side of the burner tube.

Sg7800 maytag dryer stopped giving heat

Sounds like burner not igniting. On front of dryer in the lower right there should be a gas valve/burner access panel. Usually you just have to pry out at bottom of panel & swing out and up to remove. This gives you access to valve coils and igniter. With panel removed set timer for heated dry and start dryer, observing first the igniter which should glow bright orange-red, then after a couple seconds you should hear a "Click" which is gas valve opening and a blue flame ignites for heat. If no glow is seen after a few seconds or at least a minute, igniter is bad, if it does glow and no click is heard from the gas valve, the coils (electro magnets) on the valve are bad, or the "Flame present" sensor is bad. Chances are it's either the coils or igniter.Try this on all heat settings, if you get heat at only one setting it might be in timer contacts, but not common. Again you can repair/replace both the igniter (usually just plugs into a receptical) and the coils (2 donut looking objects on the gas valve, replace both.) Access door may be on back if not on front, but normally their on lower right of front.

Maytag Neptune MDG 5500 AWQ heats sporatically

your dryer has a safety feature that it will not run or heat when the door is opened. It is so no gas fumes are exhauseted into your home. Once the safety is engaged, It will not allow the dryer to restart for a short while. It should clear itself after only a few minutes. Hope this helps, good luck.

Gas ignites but goes out after 15 or 20 seconds

Hello gdurawa
Welcome to Fixya
My name is Huum,

You said, upon starting my Kenmore gas dryer the igniter glows and the gas ignites, but the gas goes out after 15 or 20 seconds - clothes don't dry.

This means either the igniter is bad and not getting hot enough to make the gas continue to release completely and stay open, so it shut off.
or you have a bad gas module.
Or a bad gas valve without enough pressure.
Needs to be diagnosed hands on at your location .
