What can happen to the 600 watt insignia internally that causes the power protect light to come on ? can it be repaired?

you could of shorted something out inside the amp causig there to be no output, the easiest way todo that would be if the power wire grounded out after the fuse while i was hooked to the amp. also its possible the ohm load was toolow for the amp to handle. and mst amps are repairable its just how much are you willing to spend. hope this helps

Receiver stays on standby mode

Receiver either just stuck or held or having problem in amplifier output area.
Try to unplug it from AC outlet for couple of minutes and replug back in and power up, if works, fine and if does not, take it to local repair shop as it might requires some parts replacement in amplifier out area.
