I have a Black and Decker Electric mower #M2370, which I would like to use this year before moving to a condo. Last year, the mower was stopping and starting depending on how the lever was positioned. I suspected the wiring so I removed the on-off switch lever. The wiring appears intact. Part of plastic inside the lever maybe broken. Can i use the mower without the lever by just pushing the black button?

I posted a question just a few minutes ago similar to this. It's probably a broken bit in the housing around the switch which won't allow the switch to stay in place when the lever is activated. I asked if it was possible to find replacement switch housings for these older models. So far, most online part places and B&D say they're obsolete, but I'm hoping someone out there has some spare parts.

I had the same problem with the plastic post breaking, but opted to go the upgrade route. I just took a look at the old clamshell a minute ago and the black wires go on posts 1 & 3 and the white wire goes on the 4th post. There should be a red wire on the second post. The black wires are different lengths which I assume prevents someone from attaching the wrong black wire to the wrong post.
Hopes this helps.
