I installed a new fridge filter and now my ice maker will not make ice.

Check the direction of the water flow for the filter, did you put it on backwards? Did you open the pep-**** to allow water to flow to the unit again? Did the ice-maker line freeze up when you were changing the filter. These are all things that are common mistakes when changing the filter. Check this things out and get back to me with an update...

Hi, I have a amana fridge with freezer on the bottom. It has an ice maker and water dispenser. The big problem is a buzzing noise comming from the fridge, it start aprox every 16 min and buzzes for 10...

The buzzing you hear is the water valve trying to run water to the icemaker. If there is no water going to the icemaker it will be going into cycles one after another. And when it does it adds heat into the freezer. Turn the ice maker off and see if the freezer gets colder.

SMEG FA550X fridge freezer. The ice maker has stopped working, freezer has thick ice built up at bottom, fridge does not appear to be keeping food cold enough as milk etc is going off quickly. Two to...

Your Ice maker may be the cause. if it is not holding water the water may be landing on the bottom and freezing, causing the ice build up and obstructing the air transfer from the freezer to the refrigerator. You can remove or replace your Ice maker. Then you will have to defrost your freezer to get everything back to normal.

Hi,
I would check the ice level sensor... it is shown on page 9 of this manual...

If the sensor thinks that the bin is full it will not do anything...
That is why that would be my first area of interest..

Have Kenmore sid-by-side refrigerator: 7909621940B - Just changed water filter. Now, no water or ice dispenses. Ice maker is making ice - filled the bin over a few days. But, when I push to dispense...

We also have a kenmore side by side refrig and had the same problem,,,
FIRST, CHECK THE CONNECTION BETWEEN NEW FILTER AND ATTACHMENT POINT,,
IF THE RUBBER GASKET CAME LOSE DURING THE CHANGE, IT MAY BLOCK THE PATHWAY FOR WATER TO FLOW
NEXT, CHECK THE WATER/ICECUBES/CRUSH LEVER SWITCH TO MAKE SURE IT IS NOT PART WAY BETWEEN ONE OF THE SETTINGS,
NEXT,CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR UNIT HAS A RESET BUTTON,
THE RESET BUTTON IS USUALLY IMMEDIATELY INSIDE THE OPENING WHERE THE WATER/ICE DISPENSES AND UP, YOU WOULD NEED TO PLACE YOUR FINGER RIGHT DIRECTLY UP BEHIND THE FRONT PLASTIC COVER, AND IT'S GOING TO BE A VERY SMALL BUTTON, I AM NOT SURE WHICH SIDE ON YOUR UNIT R OR L, BUT DIRECTLY UP IN THE CORNER,,
I HOPE ONE OF THESE HELPS !! angi

Ice maker will not make ice

hELLO THERE:
There's no ice If your ice maker has stopped producing ice completely, check these, in this order: It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try one of these: If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire. If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire. In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly. The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts! Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary. The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.

Not making ice. water is getting to the water dispenser but don't know why it is not getting to the ice maker itself. how do i check it/repair it.

Hia and wl;ecome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
We really need a make and model number to provide you with specific unit applicable information but.... in general, here goes:
1. Ice makers must have a freezer temp below 16 Deg F. If there is an airflow problem in the freezer caused by a fan or ice build up the ice maker will no longer make ice.
2. The ice maker has a thermostat that controls the harvest and fill cycle. If the thermostat fails it will stop making ice.
3. There is a water valve in the back of the unit that has TWO electric solenoids on it. One for water in door and one for ice. If a solenoid fails it will stop providing water to the applicable function. I.e water in door or ice. You can briefly remove the fiberboard back cover to gain access to the water valve. Then switch the installed terminal connection between solenoids. Left to right or front to back depending on how it is mounted. Then try the water in door. If water flows to the ice maker when water in door switch is actuated then the solenoid for making ice is good and the probem is with the icemaker. (Reconect wires in original positions.)

Note that anytime you remove power from the unit you must wait 10 - 15 mintues before re-applying power so the coolant system can stabilze. Other wise the compressor will not start.

Here is a web link that will help most people troubleshoot ice maker problems:
http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=12&newsdesk_id=34

The link above is pretty good.
There is a 48 page job aid also for whirlpool in door ice that is also a big help:
http://adcxns1.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/8527f904cc8ea8cd85256b5800672333/$FILE/4322658A.pdf

This should help you find out why it is not making ice.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

Its brand new so i'm not sure how it should run. here are my questions and observations. 1. it hasn't stopped running for two days and its the loudest appliance in the kitchen. why? 2. the overflow...

Howdy. I'm guessing you have a new refridgerator with a built in ice maker. although I don't know what the overflow pump might be, the running water sound is likely the ice tray filling.

If the running water sound is continuous, then there is a problem and the water valve that supplies the fridge should be shut off. By now you have likely turned down the temp in the freezer section a little, so I will move on to tell you that the new fridges are mostly ridiculously loud and make as many as 30 different, unsettling noises. Many will even be so bold as to mention this in the user's guide. Ideally, once it has settled in, made its bucket full of ice and come down to happy temps, it will quiet down a little. All you can do is keep it as full as possible , as this helps it stay cold better and is more efficient.
I hope this helps some:)

Model # trt18GREW5 ice maker will not make ice, and no water flowing thru valve w/ water supply on and water tube to ice maker disconnected

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} Water doesn't flow unless the ice maker calls for water which it does immediately after dumping the previous load of ice.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.
