My apartment has a small Magic Chef gas kitchen range, I don't know the model number but on the back top of the unit is a space that heat pours out of when I use the oven. is this supposed to happen?, is it the vent? seems weird to have so much heat flowing out into the kitchen. thanks so much for your help. Ruth

Yes,this is normal.
The heat must escape all ovens for them to function correctly.
The advantage is, you can place a pot or pan of food near the vent to stay warm while the baking continues.
Works good as a bread warmer wrapped in foil also.

look at the burners in the oven,they usually go bad where they hook to the unit,it will look like a peice is missing.if this is not the case, a wire is loose in your breaker and you're running on 110 instead of 220
