I've been told my John Deere X324 should be running at 3600 rpm with mower engaged and not mowing. Mine is only at 3320 with nothing engaged. The plate the throttle cable goes to is at the bottom of its slot, so no more adjustment there. Where is the next place for adjustment? Is there a stop screw? I am trying to solve debris sticking to top of perfectly clean mower deck above middle blade whenever the mower is modestly challenged (a bit long or wet), and thought that making sure speed is correct would be a good start. Blades are sharp.

If it has a clutch, that would be the problem. An electric clutch will kick on and off when it is hot if it is bad.

SOURCE: John Deere Three Bottom Rollover Plow

Hey, the "round cylinder" is a power steering motor for a John Deere 630. If you start looking for one of those instead, I'll bet you'll have better luck. Deere dealerships tend to not care unless you're buying a half million dollars in equipment.

SOURCE: adjusting John deere ''Sabre'' model deck

Move machine to flat/level surface, with deck raised put a 2x4 between rear of deck and ground.Make sure that the 2x4 goes all the way under deck from one side too the other.Once that is done lower deck all the way and make sure lift lever is all the way forward. Then on the rear top side of deck loosen bolt that holds arm to deck bracket, pull bracket as far down as you can then retighten bolt. This is also the point where you can level deck side to side.

GOOD MORNING, I HAVE A D140 JOHN DEERE LAWN MOW,IT RUN WELL WHEN NOT MOWING BUT WHEN ENGAGED IT SLOW DOWN AS THOUGH IT HAS TO CATCH IT'S BREATH LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD

Make sure there isn't anything binding the deck belt or blades. Check the spindles for free movenent. If all that is good then it might be the linkage that is supposed to adjust the throttle when the engine is under load or it might be a carb issue...especially if you run ethanol gas in it.

I have a John Deere X304 that mows unevenly.

Make sure that your gauge wheels are not running on the ground during mowing, they should only hit the ground when you engage a high spot on one side.also when you level the deck the front should be a 1/2" lower than the rear.
