Apple 80gb mp3 will not start. It has not been in use for some months. I have charged the battery but just get the screen to come on occasionally. Is there a re-start procedure?

Use this article from Apple to do a reset and some other basic troubleshooting: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/

If the resetting does not bring it back to life, chances are you have a dead battery, I have had this happen a few times.

If you are somewhat handy, and comfortable taking things apart and putting them back together, chances are you could replace the battery. The hardest part is getting the case apart.

I have previously used ebay and things to buy a "battery replacement kit"...Be sure to get the right one for your style iPod, but once you get the case open, the battery is not that difficult to replace, and doing it yourself is much cheaper than having Apple do it for you.

Yes it needs a new battery. usually the case prys apart, but look for some tiny screws before prying it apart. the battery inside will have markings on it to help you find a replacement

There is nothing on the screen of the pedometer, what ever I press. Do they run on a battery and if so can it be replaced? There's no apparent place to fit a new battery!

Pedometers run on a battery, the type depends upon the exact make and model which you have failed to mention.

Many cheap giveaway pedometers are not designed to have the battery replaced but it's usually possible to carefully prise the case apart if it's not screwed together. Some are glued together in which case you'll need a razor saw: if you have to buy a razor saw then it's cheaper to just replace the pedometer. You'll often find that with cheap disposable pedometers that the batteries actually cost more than a complete new unit with batteries included.

More expensive pedometers will always have a clearly defined battery access point, even if it's just a matter of undoing a few screws to separate the casing..

Rechardable battery . can you tell me how to take apart a remington shaver. to change the batterys. i have MODEL NO, MS2-300 RS4843. YOURS D.Sweeney.

First, remove the foil and cutters. You will then need to gently pry off the rubberized front cover with a small flat screwdriver or similar object. You will then be able to access and remove the two screws at the bottom. You will then need to pop the case apart by carefully inserting a flat screwdriver at the bottom between the AC port and the case. Once you pop it apart you will need to remove the metal clip at the top that so that the case can be fully seperated.
You will then be able to see the batteries.
For easier replacement, it is sometimes suggested that you use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries rather than unsoldering them from the circuit board. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves the tabs attached to the circuit board. You can then solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs

You will find batteries at shaveroutlet.com. See link below. You will need two batteries.

If this is not something you can do yourself, you might want to consider one of the items below which will give you and easier fix

Can you take the Swivel Sweeper battery pack apart to replace the batteries with new rechargeable batteries? Batteries look like AA or AAA, but it appears that the battery pack is sealed. Is there any way...

Yes you can if you have a way to cut through the plastic outer case,(I used a Dremel rotary tool). Inside you will find six double A Ni-mh batteries. I found eight of these for sale on ebay for around ten bucks, then all you do is solder some wire to the batteries like the original battery pack and tape up the case and charge.

How do I replace the CMOS battery in a Thinkpad 1400?

Your CMOS battery is located up inside the case. It is fastened to the underside of the palm rest. You may be able to see it if you remove the battery, if I recall correctly. Most generally, you have to split the case to get at it. Do that carefully by removing the screws and prying the case halves apart.

Remington MS2-250 shaver disassembly?

This shaver was pretty clearly not designed for battery replacement. To open, first remove the screen and blades, and unhook the metal collar from the tab on the back of the case. Then carefully pry off the black inset on the front of the shaver. Underneath it, near the bottom are two screws. Remove these. The case is now only held together by several plastic latches, which can be carefully pried apart with a small screwdriver. The two 2/3A size batteries are soldered to the printed circuit board, which can be pulled out (don't break the wires to the motor) by a little wiggling. The original batteries in mine are 1100mAh, and I have just ordered 1600mAh replacements. The new ones don't have tabs - so soldering them in place is probably going to be a challenge.

Good luck.
