Sounds like the motor is overheating and probably needs to be changed out.when was the last time you cleaned out the dryer and how old is it?the dryer should be taken apart and cleaned out once a year if it's gas and once every two years if it's electric.there's an open flame in a gas dryer and i've seen the lint catch fire in some of them.you should clean out the outside vent,if the vent line is a long run from the back of the dryer to the outside vent i use a leaf blower to blow out the line, clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into and with a shop vac i blow out the motor and vac out the cabinet where the motor is and blow out the gas tube, the lint builds up on the dryer motor, overheats it and all the oil in the motor dries up,you can see it on the back of the drum and around the motor, you'll see lint stuck onto the back of the drum stuck in the oil and like a yellow stain on the frame and wall where the motor is and the motor starts overheating and cuts out when it gets hot, when it cools it will start again but one of these times it wont start at all.sometime you'll hear a loud buzz when you try to start it.the motor is easy to change, you need to decide if you want to put money into the dryer or change it out, good luck

Kenmore gas dryer

Most gas dryers that work intermittent is caused by bad solenoids on the gas valve assembly. Replace them (which is real easy) and all the other problems will go away. Here is my gas valve solenoid replacement video:

Dryer not drying

HI, Check the following to address this issue further.

Note: Normal drying time for a dryer is about 45 minutes (some may take up to an hour).

1. Venting
Make sure the dryer vent hose, as well as the rest of the vent duct, is not clogged.(clear the lint trap as well)

Unless regular maintenance is performed, chances are there is a lot of lint accumulated inside the dryer. This might affect the drying time and could be a fire hazard. Make sure to have your dryer cleaned regularly. Because this might involve taking most of the dryer apart, it is recommended to have a qualified appliance repairman perform this task.

2. Thermostat
There are a couple of cycling thermostats inside the dryer. If one of them breaks down, it might affect the dryer's performance. Replace the defective thermostat. These thermostats are located in the dryer vent duct and sometimes mounted on the blower assembly as well.

Hi, Check the door switch and the fuse. The fuse is the most common cause. You can also let the dryer cool down for an hour and see if it will restart. If it restarts, the motor might be going bad. It is hard to say without model# I'm afraid. I have not heard of a top load dryer but, these are common things to check.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

We have a Kenmore Elite gas clothes dryer (110.73952101). It will not completely dry large loads. We have to reset timer and restart the dryer. If we set timer for 40 minutes, dryer may run for 10 minutes...

Loads may be too large. Also when you reset and restart, the heat overload is cutting out. If your discarge is kinked or not venting properly this will cause it not to dry as well. Also check your lint screen. Good Luck!

My dryer starts runs for a few minutes then stops with an E1 on

clear the exhaust tube of lint and make sure you have good air flow out of house and also if you happen to keep anything on top of your dryer please i say this to all NEVER keep anything on top ot it. Clothes or stacked items on top insulates your cabinet and makes dryer run improperly. Nowadays with sensors and all, it fools your machine when you have stuff on top of it. Good Luck

We must wait one hour to dry 2nd load

you have a bad motor the internal overload is cutting it off when the motor gets hot and that is why it takes about a hour for it to cool down before it will come back on the fix is replace the motor which is very expensive or buy a new dryer
