When I go to receive a multi media message and press retrieve it tries to retrieve the message for a couple minutes and then it says message retrieve fail and I can't see the picture. This only happens with Multi media messaging all other text messaging works normal.

Check that 'Save sent messages' is set at 'No'. 6. Check that 'Delivery reports' is set at 'No'. 7. Check that 'Allow multimedia reception' is set at 'In home network'. 8. Check that 'Incoming multi-media messages' is set at 'Retrieve'. 9. Highlight 'Connection settings', then press Select 10. Highlight 'Active multimedia settings', then press Select 11. Highlight the next available Set (e.g. Set 1), then press Activate 12. Highlight 'Edit active multi-media settings', then press Select 13. Highlight 'Settings' name' and press Select (left softkey). Enter 'giffgaff MMS', then press OK 14. Highlight 'Homepage', then press Select (left softkey). Enter 'http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002' and press OK 15. Highlight 'Session mode', then press Select (left softkey). Highlight 'Permanent' and press Select 16. Highlight 'Data Bearer', then press Select (left softkey). Highlight 'GPRS' and press Select 17. Highlight 'GPRS access Point', then press Select (left softkey). Enter 'giffgaff.com' and press OK 18. Highlight 'IP Address', then press Select (left softkey). Enter '193.113.200.195' and press OK 20. Highlight 'Authentication type', then press Select (left softkey). Highlight 'Normal' and press Select 21. Highlight 'User name', then press Select (left softkey). Enter 'giffgaff' and press OK 22. Highlight 'Password', then press Select (left softkey). Enter 'password' and press OK 23. When asked to 'Verify new password' enter 'password' and then press OK 24. Press Back (right softkey) 6 times to return to the standby screen.

In nokia 1600 Multi Media messaging is not supported.The type of phone is DCT4.So, it is not a multi media phone.The tones too is mono.There if you received multi media you cannot view the mms.Thanks for visiting fixya

go to your networks website and you will be able to send yourself the settings

I had this same problem. You have to do a hard reset which they will help you with.

You have to call your networks customer care number and ask them for the settings.most probably they will send it,save the settings and select it as default.now try sending a multimedia message.

you need to speak to your service provider as they have not sent the text set up to your sim card to allow MMS (multi media services) for accepting and sending photos. If you have just purchased the phone it can take upto 24 hours for your sim to set up fully depending on your service provider.
