you can use a external hard disc connector ,,, but still you must open the box ,, i think the guarantee is already void ,,, cause misuse is not guaranteed any way you must ask about the guarantee thing ,,,

As you say has become red and no power to the hard disk.
First check the power cable for any loose connections and check if it give power to the cpu and the fan placed on processor starts working as you start the power. If fan it starts and with in few seconds stops then your power supply/SMPS is weak or damage. So replace it for proper working of your computer. And if after power on all fines but red led on monitor and no power to hard disk Try to replace the hard disk power cables because they are not working because of it no operating system is detected and led of monitor is red. After replacing hard disk cables hard disk starts working and still no display or red led on monitor check the vga cable for loose connection or replace it.If you are using vga display from graphic card try to get display first from onboard vga slot.After it your problem will disappear and your pc run smooth and fine.

Friend the power switch is damge or shorted you need to replace the power switch

go to your bios setting > chipset feature > onchip AGP.
you can increase your Graphic card from ther if it is on bourd.

plz tell us that you brought external or internal hard disk. if he brought internal hard disk then plz tell us that is sata or pata. if you don't know more abt hard disk then you see the label of the hard disk and if it is has 40 pins back side then firstly swithch off the power then you open your cabinet and put the power cable of smps and plug it to hard disk and then attached the 40 pin data cable to the motherboard and another point to the hard disk then turn on the power. then you see the new harddisk in window explorer partation it and use it.

when you burn disks you have to choose the option "appendable disk"(or in simple words to create a disk where you can add information -data-later if you wish to do so)
If you just record the data on a cd without this option you will get the error -disk is full-

If its just a case of the power socket broken..

Depending on your location - will dictate the next steps..

consult the authorized service cenetr of amxtor as they can recover data from damged hard disk . carefull while connecting to pc . as it can damage pc if circuits are broken

something you have done has stopped the hard disk drive from working.

first check all the internal connections between the hard disk drive and mother board and hard drive and power supply.

Wiggle them around and make sure they are in straight.

then check you didnt drop any screws etc inside the pc and these are shorting something out

you need to check that the ribbon cables that connect your hard disk drive werent damaged when you fitted the wireless card


then i think you need some help

confirm that the pc can boot from a floppy or cd
you might need to change the bios settings first

you need to check all the bios settings if there is any chance that you might have changed them accidently



you need to check that the power supply is working correctly (unlikely)

i wouldnt expect that it is the card that caused the problem

then i would consider the possiblity that there was a virus on the installation disk (unlikely)

then i might wonder if coincidently the hard disk drive failed at that time.
