I assume this is the HEI coil. If not let me know and I can help further. Instructions
1
Put your safety first. Engage your emergency or parking
brake. Also, disconnect the negative battery cable from the Chevy
Corvette's battery.
2
Make the ignition system visible. On older models, you may
need to remove the plenum extension for the intake manifold using a
screwdriver or wrench. For newer models, remove the cover for the fuel
rail.
3
Look for additional parts that you need to remove. For HEI
systems, you need to access the distributor through the cap. Other
systems use an ignition coil harness connector.
4
Disconnect the secondary wires, or spark plug wires, from
the ignition coil. Tag each wire with masking tape, so you know which
terminal to reconnect the wire to. If you connect the wrong wires to the
terminals, your Chevy Corvette won't start.
5
Detach the ignition coil mounting bolts and remove the
ignition coil. The amount and type of bolts vary depending on the part
number for the Corvette ignition coil. You may also need to remove the
ignition coil arc seal.
6
Clean the distributor cap with a soft cloth. Now is a good
time to replace the seal, if needed. Insert your new ignition coil and
secure it in place. As you reassemble, use a Torque wrench to tighten
the mounting bolts or screws to 13 inch pounds (1.5 Nm) of torque.
7
Reassemble the rest of the parts and reconnect your battery. Start the Chevy Corvette to ensure the repair worked.
Tyhe first thing you shd always do on any car with starting problems is to check the spark on the plugs to localize the problem to either fuel or ignition problem. If u have an old spark plug lying around, remove one spark plug wire and attach it to the plug and lay it against the block. If it fires, when the engine turns, then it will most likely be fuel problem.
If it turns out to be fuel problem, you can prove it by using starting fluid carefully into the breather area.
MAKE SURE SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES IN GOOD CONDITION, REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR,CHECK FOR SPARK AT SPARK PLUGS,IF YOU DONT SEE SPARK CHECK TO SEE IF POWER GOING TO COIL IF NOT CHECK IGNITION FUSE.IF FUSE OKAY AND POWER GOING TO IGNITION COIL,COIL FAULTY OR IGNITER UNIT FAULTY. CHECK FOR FUEL PRESSURE MAKE SURE FUEL FILTER BEEN CHANGED.FUEL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 40 PSI. IF YOU GETTING SPARK AND FUEL. YOUR IGNITION TIMING OFF OR VALVE TIMING OFF DUE TO A WORN TIMING BELT.
it looks like you changed all the ignition parts. so Yes you got fire......................but you don't have gas. or it would start. check for fuel again. somethings wrong. if you had gas, it would start. i dont think your getting fuel
They dont really go out of time...These were common for bad sparkplug wires and ignition coils having open circuts...check for spark on plugwires 1 and 4 and 2 and 3 if there is no spark on 1 and 4 replace ignition coil the same with 2,3 the coils do fire the 2 sparkplugs simultainously ..and if there is an open circut in the plug wire only one wire will not have spark..if its a coil 2 wires will have no spark..
Check your ignition fuse # 30, in the inside fuse box all the way on the right second from the bottom, check your coil and crank position sensor, these are responsible for spark, the crank sensor is bolted with 2 bolts next to the lower engine pulley, this is a magnetic pick up that triggers spark from the coil, if the crank sensor is good and you have no spark then the coil could be bad. Hope this helps, let me know.
