Blades are available online at
Oster
800-887-6682

OR

CacheBeauty.com

But once the plastic clip that mounts the blade to the unit brakes you are screwed. Oster can't supply that anymore. You can always sharpen the blades and make sure you keep them lubricated going forward. Google sharpening clipper blades to find instructions.

I have an Oster Golden A5 2 Speed animal clipper and don't know how to change the blades. I live in Australia so can't go to Oster. How do I do it please and is there a comprehensive Oster Manual? Thanks,...

hi, if you look at the blade while its attatched to your clipper, at the back edge of the blade there is a black metal peice called a Latch push this towards the blade and pull the front edge away from the clipper it will hinge away then you can pull it straight off.
As for an instruction manual if you have no luck contact us and we can send one to you.

Difficulty shaving Spanish Water Dog

The biggest issue with clipping animals (except sheep which use completely different clippers) is that once you have sharpened blades, you need to go slow and keep then blades oiled and cooled. The KOOL spray by oster works great and the clippers you are using are a good reliable brand and model. When clipping my cocker/schnauzer cross, I have a 1/2 inch guard on it (have to use a 30 or 40 blade with the guards) and it takes about an hour. I stop every 10 minutes or so to let them cool down, spray and oil them.

Blades fell off oster dog clippers but can't fit them back on. Please help !!

With the hinge of the clipper facing you:
Make sure hinge is open, if it is not, prize it open with a flat head screwdriver.
Slide the blade on with the blade siz/number faceing you.
Snap shut.
If this fails, try again, but push the latch in as you snap them shut.
If this fails, you may need repair!

Blades fell off oster dog clippers but can't fit them back on. Please help !!

Assuming that you did not damage anything, the blades should go back on easily.
Slide the blade onto the hinged flat 'post'. Turn the clipper on. Fold closed the blade assembly into position against the clipper body.

If this does not ork, you must have damaged something.

Newbie Clipper needing advice

This is from the Oster book:
Changing Blades
To Remove: IMPORTANT- stop motor; push latch with thumb while lifting blade away from clipper and slide off tongue.
To Replace: turn motor on; insert blade on tongue fully and then snap blade into place.

Note: if the hinge is flush against clipper, lift it up with a screwdriver.

From me - Never take your blades apart to clean them. You can slide them one side to the other to get the hair out. (One little hair, can stop them from cutting.) You need to buy a can of clipper blade cool from oster or andis both are good, and it really helps to lubricate the blade and keep them cool while clipping. If you live near a dog groomer, petsmart or something of the like. Ask them to show you how to remove the blade and I know they will be happy to show you. I tried to submit an image from the book, but I don't know if it will get here or not.
