Does conversion from LP gs to Natural gas on Ducane 30400040 (essentially makes it a model 30400041) require changing the inlet orofice on the IR burner ? I purchased conversion kit that included all new valves, manifold and igniters for main, side & IR burners. All works well but IR Burner will not light with either igniter or match.

Did the conversion kit give you an LP orifice for every new gas valve? LP gas orifices have smaller holes than Nat gas orifices. Can you smell gas when you turn on the IR burner by itself? Some burners styles have an air adjustment on the end that fits over the orifice. Make sure it's getting enough air. Also make sure your ignitor sparker is positioned where the spark can ark against the top of the burner. Ducane grills have rotary ignitors, so turn it (with gas off) and see if you can actually see where it's sparking. If it's not sparking in the right place, it will be difficult to light.

Testimonial: "As I expected - conversion kit did not include a new orofice for the IR burner. Conversation with Ducane indicated no conversion is available - interesting in that I purchased the kit from Ducane two years ago. Thanks for your help"

If you know the BTU rating of the IR burner, the orifice can be manually converted. I've done it many times. Nat gas orifices can be drilled and fitted with a spud, which can then be redrilled with the appropriate smaller LP gas hole size. Call around to your local propane companies and ask for a serviceman to do it for you.

Convert gas grill natural

ducane will not make these available anymore because the ducane family no longer owns the company and the models since 2007 are all made in china with poor quality controls. conversions are simple but the parts will not come through ducane or weber. replace the orifice in the tip of every control valve and replace the regulator. that is the only difference in fuel types.

Do they make a conversion kit from NG to LP for a Ducane Meridian 32" grill ???....btw, the model has been discontinued.

Unfortunately, there is not a conversion kit available to convert a Ducane/Webber Grill from one gas type to another. In fact, there never has been, to the best of my knowledge.

The reason for this is that each model is tested and approved for a specific gas type. Whether it's Natural Gas or Propane Gas. Attempts to convert them from one gas type to another would then place all the liability on you, if something should go wrong, because of the conversion. Even the Owner's Manual states that.

My best advice, is clean the grill up and sell it to someone who wants a Natural Gas Grill. Use that money to put toward a new LP Gas Grill. That's the safest way to do it.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

I cannot find a supplier who can provide an LP to nat gas conversion kit for my 4 burner grill made under the name: Ducane, model # 30400040. Can you assist? Marlin

Perhaps, the reason you can't find the fuel conversion parts is that they are not convertible from one fuel type to another. Ducane/Weber makes both an LP model and a Natural Gas model of your grill, but no conversion kits. Because, as the Owners Manual states "Liquid propane gas is not natural gas. The conversion or attempted use of natural gas in a liquid propane unit or liquid propane
gas in a natural gas unit is dangerous and will void your warranty."

http://help.weber.com/manuals/ducane/2009%20Manuals%20pdf/Affinity_3400_4400_NG_OwnersManual_27010342_061008.pdf

Certainly, you could attempt it, Marlin . But it's not the wise thing to do.

I know this wasn't the answer you may have wanted, but I hope it helps you.

Side burner on my Ducane 30400040 LP gas grill has a tall yellow/orange flame. How do I adjust?

Try blowing the burner out with compressed air. They're not adjustable but can get clogged up and change the air to gas mix.
