My external DVD burner is not burning my xbox 360 games onto a dual layer DVD disc

Microsoft has security that recognizes only xbox games not burned discs but I'm sure there is ways to get passed it just look for walkthroughs on YouTube

If you try to burn this on a single layer DVD disk then you will get this error message unless your DVD burn program can compress the video so it can fit on a single layer DVD disc.
OTHERWISE
You need to upgrade your burner to a dual layer burner and burn your video onto a dual layer DVD disc.

By the problem you have described, i beleive you have a modded Xbox 360 used to play copied games, if yes you need to check what game are you playing.

If it is a latest game, then you would require a Wave 4 patch to play copied games on a modded Xbox 360, you can google on the web to find out the list of games that require wave 4 patch to run before you play the game on Xbox 360

What you need to do is first burn the Wave 4 patch on a Dual Layer DVD and load the game disc first and you would see "play CD" option, now take out the game disc and enter the Wave 4 patch disc you just burned and again you would see "play CD" option.

DO NOT PLAY the CD, just take it out again and re-insert your copied game CD in your Xbox 360 and you should be good to go.

Do you have a mod chip in your xbox? is this a modded unit?

Are you using backups? Are these original Xbox cames.

If you are using copies, self burned games or backups. You are most likely using the wrong type of disc, you need to use DVD dual layer +R NOT the -R

Multi-Layer support means the drive can Read/Write a Dual-Layer discs.

Lightscribe means you can create a label on a disk.

your better off burning dual layers with an hitachi they are good i burn all my wii games with them

Get A New DVD drive.
I,d suggest That Your Laser is,nt kicking up the required Voltage To read The dual-Layers ?
X-Box games Are single Layer DVD. 360s Are Dual Layer ( DL )
Also try An Original Or Over 5 gig DVD ( Thats most likely to Be Dual Layer )

Try re-installing the software associated with the burner, so it installs the necessary drivers and files needed for the burner to work according to your needs.

Also check the connections and cables... sometimes moving it around causes the cables to loose some contacts.

most nec 2510a's are old and possibly won't know what a dual layer disc is, either update or head to liggy at cd freaks for help
