Model # DBSR453EB2WW; sounds as if belt needs lubrication when operation dryer, high pitch sqeeking. Please advise.

There is a belt that surrounds and drives the drying cylinder, or drum, made of similar material as a fan belt in an automobile, except much thinner material, and it encircles the drum. It surrounds the drum, goes thru a smaller motor/roller set and back around again. There is a spray that's used on auto belts to prevent slippage, called "fan belt lubricant" or similar name. It can be sprayed onto the belt thru holes in the rear panel, or if possible, from UNDER the chassis. It is possible to lift the dryer and tilt it backwards, but applying the spray from the rear is easier in some cases. The belt, or small roller assembly is probably the source of the high pitch sound. The tumbler or cylinder, spins on a single spindle but rarely needs lubricating. These parts are the only moving parts, therefore, the only bits of machinery that might cause the high-pitched sound you hear.

Usually the hi pitched squeal is either the belt slipping or the bearing. It the drum hesitates at start, then look at the belt as the culprit. But that sound unsually stops after the drum starts retating.

Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm
pulley and motor.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots
or wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably
only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as
3 in One oil.
Reassemble the dryer, plug back in.
This should solve your noise problem.

If you have a front loading machine,

Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer.
Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch.
Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt.
Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm
pulley and motor.
Now is a good time to check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the
idler arm pulley and also to check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go
to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots
or wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably
only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade
of machine oil such as 3 in One oil.
Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.

I own a Frigidaire Heavy Duty Dryer The Model # is FDE436RES1. It is 10 years old. When running the dryer it makes a very loud squealing noise although the heat and the dryer still work. Is this a belt or roller problem or does it sound like something else. It is very high pitched and can be heard throughout the entire home.
