A week ago i was driving my 93 Lumina 6cyl 3.1 started to act up. I was comming off of an exit ramp from 65 mph. Let off the gass to slow down and coast up to the stop light. When i started off from the light, the car lacked power and developed a major vibration when i was driving at cruising speed. Now when i take off from a stop, it will go through the gears good until i get to 55. Once i get to 55 it drops into overdrive and the engine vibrates and the engine sounds like it's missing. I have been driving in drive instead of overdrive, but when i try to accelerate at cruising speed it vibrates, not as badly as when i am in overdrive. I can stop the vibration by pressing down the accelerator and dropping into a higher gear. It lacks power going up hills and trying to accelerate in the upper gears. The things i have replaced: Exhaust (cat, pipes, muffler), ignition coils, spark plugs, fuel filter, and fuel lines. I checked the EGR and it is fine. I have used fuel injector cleaner with no change. The code that came up about 3 months ago was O2 sensor (13), no other codes since or before. the code was a 1 time instance and it was -20 degrees F out. It is not an intermittent thing and at stops it has stalled a few times now. Any ideas of what it could be that's causing this.
Check your camshaft and crankshaft sensors. When defective, it may cause stalls, misfires, loss of power. Also have check the engine for vacuum leaks. Hopefully this helps!!

Sorry no idea without a look myself ,autos are not common here in spain and i would suspect a faulty control computer but where it is located on the vehicle i have no idea
As a test, you can switch the overdrive OFF with a push of a button. The engine will run at higher RPM so test it under 55MPH.
I am thinking about your comment of "One side shaking". This sounds more like a loose wheel or dragging out of round front rotor. Then when you comment about the vibration stopping briefly when accelerating or decelerating, that's a lot like U-joint play. The U-joint has play and tightens at the extreme edge of its mount as it rocks from Torque direction changes.
I would say to have an Alignment shop check the front suspension and driveshaft. These inspections are not something a beginner should do.
Sounds like overdrive or the torque converter is going out. The torque converter goes into lock up then the trans goes into overdrive. Your owners manual should have a diagram of the engine compartment showing the dipstick. Is the check engine light on ?
When the lock up torque converter starts acting up, it usually upshifts fine but acts like it is stuck in high gear when coming to a stop and usually kills the engine. For a cheap fix, I have seen where people just unplug it so it will not operate. The car will drive alright withuot it but you will loose a little gas mileage by not having it.
"93 chevy lumina, starts good and will run for a little bit and then shuts off. or when i put it into gear it will shut off also. i have replaced the spark plugs, has new filters and used an injector cleaner. i hope you can help me figure out what is wrong with it. thanks
It sounds like you have lost first gear in your transmission. I have a 93 Grand Cherokee and recently suffered the same problem. The problem is most likely in the transmission valve body. You should stop driving the vehicle immediately to prevent doing more damage to the rest of the transmission. Sounds like you will most likely need a rebuild
could possibly be vacuum assist check valve is defective and you are feeling the engine vacuum pulsations. Easy ck, Inexpensive, easy replace. Good luck. If you will, let me know. please
