My xbox 360 is playing in black and white

this will happen depending where you got your xbox from and where you are located.

There are multiple types of TV signals. Typcially two are used NTSC and PAL. If you have a TV and are in a country that supports PAL and you purchased say an XBOX from america then you will have a black and white screen or no game at all. Same thing goes if you are in america and say purchased the xbox on ebay from a perosn in europe. You will get a black and white game cause your TV is NTSC and not PAL.

Many game units will support BOTH signals but are locked to a signal of the region the console was intended for sale on.

Hi a lot of games on xbox need pal 60 to run properly, bought my lad a xbox and then had to buy him a new tv as well because old tv was only pal 50 and most of the games he wanted to play wouldn't work with it, the tv carnt keep up with the xbox graphics!

This sadly means the game and Xbox 360 console aren't the same region. (Rather the game is region locked, meaning unless you have a Xbox 360 that plays those regions, the game is non-playable because the console can't read the disc.) There really isn't any solutions for this, other than take the game back to the store and ask for your money back because the region of the game doesn't play on your Xbox 360. Always make sure when buying Xbox 360 games that it's the right region code. (Or that it's a region free coded game) There are a few games like that out, one being Borderlands for example.

If it says PAL on the cover of the game for example, the game covers most of Asia, Africa, South America, Australia, New Zealand, and most of Western Europe. (List of common PAL regions can be found here.)
There are a few other region codes for games, so you better make sure you are buying the ones for your region.

try a different tv set as it could be setting on you tv which is causing the black and white.

You will get this error when your laser is in need of replacing. The other message you will get is open tray. If your system will play regular movie dvd's but not games then replace the laser. You can find them pretty cheap on ebay.

Have you tried adjustign the mhz settings ie: change from 50mhz to 60 mhz as some games will show up in black and white if you have the xbox set to 50 mhz

This is an easy fix.
Within the xbox, goto system settings, and chnage the display output ot pal 50.

do u have your 360 display settings at 60hz if so the tv might not be compatiable with a 60hz signel go to display setting and drop back to 50 hz and colour may show it self but remember some games wont play in 50hz if this is the case try find a ntsc to pal converter

i have a xbox 360 and a television that opperates at PAL-50
my xbox is telling me, to play a game i must operate at PAL-60.
when i change the xbox settins to PAL-60 the televison goes all fuzzy, can i fix this.
