Have you tried fixing it with fresh battery's? If it's Solar panelled then it could be shattered and no longer attracting light. If that's the case It'd be cheaper buying a new one.

you calculator is on, you need to adjust the brightness , try 2nd up botton or down button this will darken the curser so you can see it than press some numbers and see if you can see them . okay
