I have not used the Sony TC-WA7ESA for quite awhile. I recently went to use it & had the above problem. I had to remove the cover & triggered the release to get the tapes out. When closing the deck door, it then was locked again so they could not be opened by pushing the eject button. When the tapes were loaded, they would not operate, play, rewind etc.
Is this a repair that I could try to do? If so, could I get some detailed info as far as what is involved & can repair manuals be obtained? Thank you for any help you can give me.

I had the same problem. You probably have to replace the rubber belts.

The problem, according to messages on your site, is that the belts are old and have stretched. There is a great step by step tutorial on www.Instructables.com with pictures and all. Parts are not too hard to find on search engine. Looks like less than $25 to fix.

you can not fix it without tearing it apart. if you do take it apart, try to get the front panel off. Hit the eject button and look for a lever that is stuck.
