Always after 15 seconds?? this sounds like thermal issue. if this is a custom build they often forget to apply proper amount of thermal paste to the processor causing it to not make good connectivity to the heat sink and thus not drawing enough heat away from the processor. a heat sink is used to actually increase the surface area of a processor. this in turn has a fan above sucking the air away from the processor. and another fan in the tower blowing the heat away from the case and out the back or side.

if you can get into bios. hitting the corresponding f keys when the system begins to boot but before windows starts to load.. you can see a screen called system health in bios. this will be or many not be present on the main page. entering it will give you temperature readings but be careful if proc overheats it will shutdown again in bios.and then you know you have to add thermal paste. temperatures will be in Celsius .id say anything in 80 degree Celsius range is rather hot. above 80 and id say your above the boiling point of water. and it needs to be looked at.

thermal take makes great cpu coolers if your aftermarket or oem cooler is failing. and it's very simple top replace following simple instructions.

Check your cpu fan first normally it's the fan.can give you more things to check, like memory stick but if that does not work write back and I can tell you also the power supply fan may be dirty or bad these are the most common thing you can find. and if you see a lot of dirt on the fan that is most likely your problem.

I looked it up and it sounds like your unit is defective. It should run for 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes. There are no "seconds" options. The timer chip/module may be defective.

Have had this lap top for right at 2 years,, just last few days, when I try to hibernate, it takes a long time to shut down, then when I start to "wake" it up, it shows that there was an un-nessary shut...

I don't know about the long shutdown time but I may be able to speed up the startup time.

(Assuming you have Windows Vista or 7)
Go to the Start menu and in the "Search" field type in "msconfig" (without the quotation marks" ")

Click the on "Boot.Ini" tab and check "NoGuiBoot". Now on the right where it says "timeout" change the 30 secs. to 15 secs.

Now click on the Startup tab. Tell me all the processes that are on here. If there's more than 15 or so then it's no wonder your computer is starting up slowly. This should dramatically speed up your PC and improve performance.

The problem you're describing is a classic symptom of a defective fan--some fans simply have + and - power connections. However, other fans have a third, yellow wire, for sending a pulse to the main board to tell it that the fan is indeed running. If the main board doesn't get the signal, it's internal programming instructions perform a shutdown in case of any error condition--protects the unit against excessive heat, current draw, etc. MAKE SURE THE DUST FILTER IS CLEAN! A dirty filter causes the fan to pull harder, increasing current draw, possibly triggering the symptom. The other possibility is a defective power supply causing an over-current condition. Again, the main board senses this and cues a shutdown. You'll need to send the unit out to a repair facility to confirm a diagnosis. Any reputable shop will give you a quote first with an explanation of the problem.

Usb device over current status detected will shutdown in 15 sec

You can upgrade your motherboard's BIOS with the latest version (downloadable at: http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=KyHOsOKWujC2QguJ&content=download). This might help resolve the problem.
If not, then the problem you are having might be because of a bug in Windows 7, since it is not yet the final version.
If possible, you can test whether this is the case or not by backing up your system & installing Windows XP or Vista, and test to see if the problem will persist or not.
