Altec Lansing ACS400 (Desk top stereo/Dolby Digital speaker & Sub, circa 1995) [right speaker] does not work; how can I fix it?

realistically, I would say they've had their time, and it would not be worth repairing. it could be more than just the speaker that blew, parts for desktop speaker systems are almost nonexistant unless you know you're way around jury-rigging electronics. Plus, there are quite a few new sets out there that would be superior to what the ACS400 puts out, for decent pricings.
I myself am a big advocate of the Logitech THX-certified product lines- they have excellent bass, crystal clear sound, and are great value for the money.

I have a sony vaio VGC desk top - it is probably 6 years old or so. I went to start it th other day and it sounds like its firing up and you can hear the fan working - then a constant beep noise starts...

The constant beep signifies that one or more RAM has(ve) been dislocated from the RAM socket(s). Try to re-assemble the RAM(s) into the proper position(s) and re-start your computer. I hope this will work the best for you.

[email protected] purchased Dell Desk top 580S C13 W7HB from Vijay Sales on 6th June 2010. Got it installed by a friend as I am a senior citizen needing advice on operations also. Generally OK but sound...

The speakers inside desktop computers (if it has one) are very small and do not produce a reasonable volume.
I suggest you purchase a powered stereo speakers and connect it to the audio out connector on the desktop computer. Powered speakers have better sound quality and adjustable volume controls as well as bass and treble controls.

Having speakers to work on vizo desk top . all in on desktop!

You need to remove the unknows first. Try the speakers on another device. You could try a walkman, another computer or anything with an 1/8th" Stereo jack. Prove that the speakers work or get a pair of headphones to check out your PC. If you are using the green jack on the back try the headphone jack on the front. If the front works and the back doesn't check the sound card options / set up. Some have an icon by the time in the bottom right corner others will need to be found under the sound effects manager or the sounds and audio devices icon. I suspect if you get this far something has been turned off in the software.

Acer aspire desk top t180 has no sound

Sounds like he forgot to plug back in the sound cable when he took his iPod out. Simple fix for this. Pull out the desktop box (computer) and find what should be a green sound cable and plug it into a green port in the back of your computer. If your having trouble as to what it looks like, get your son to identify what he took out of your desktop to listen to his iPod and plug it back in. Also check that your speakers are turned on and are up on the speakers and on your desktop, which you can find in the bottom right hand corner near your desktop clock. The icon looks like a speaker and just click on it once and make sure its up all the way and not muted. Let me know if this works or not

Hope This Helps
