Pioneer VSX-519V was hooked up to TV unit was on when I turned on the TV. Unit shut off and will no longer turn on. Pretty sure a simple fix is in order see no reason for contacting Pioneer.
Did this arrangement work before the TV was turned on this last time? What was the connection between the TV and the receiver? Is the receiver still dead without the TV (or anything else) connected? If so, take it to a Pro and tell him what preceded the problem.Did this arrangement work before the TV was turned on this last time? What was the connection between the TV and the receiver? The owners manual says that if the speaker wire touches the chassis it will automatically shut off. You can replace it for about $40 on E-bay which is probably less than it would cost to have it repaired at an audio shop. Search "Pioneer VSX-519V" in Bing or Google and see your options. They also have manuals available for this model. Good luck!
what ya need to do is go buy ya a can of air from either walgreens or walmart or somewhere that sells can of air and when ya get home take the top cover off and spray it out with the can of air and that should fix it cause it probably has a lot of dust in it my uncles was doin the same thing and that was what was wrong with it
You guys mentioned the reset via the front panel, and I tried that with this very same issue on my VSX-822-k and it worked!
thought I would post the instructions for anyone else that lands here:
Reset the main unit if the receiver is generally not operating correctly. Switch the receiver into standby mode. Hold down the "BAND" button while pressing the "STANDYBY/ON" button for about two seconds. When "Reset?" appears in the display window, press the "AUTO SURROUND/ STREAM DIRECT" button. "OK?" appears in the display window. Press "STEREO/A.L.C." to confirm. "OK" appears in the window. The system has been reset.
it sound like the dsp ( digital sound processing) board is not working, take it to your nearest pioneer shop and get them to take a look at it, hope this helps
Aside from any intrinsic problem with your receiver, the usual suspects are;
1) Poor receiver ventilation.
2) Very high levels of bass.
3) Shorts in the speaker wiring.
4) A rubbing loudspeaker voice coil.
