I have a natural gas infared 30,000 BTU heater that sets off the smoke alarms everytime it comes on. The flame appears to be too high. The gas pressure is in range of where it should be as the gas company has installed a new regulator. I was told that it sounded like the air / gas mixure needed adjusted. If so how do you do this ?

IT COULD BE THE AIR GAS MIXTURE, ALSO COULD HAVE WRONG SIZE FUEL ORFICE
The sir gas is contorled by an opening ajustment where the gas comes out of orfice. (usualy it turns to make smaller or lager opening. More or less air}

Mr Heater wall heater 30,000 btu. I only had the flame go to high when the thermostat turns it on.

If you had it 2 weeks it is under warranty from the maker and from the installer.

An orange flame is not quite enough air in the gas mix. It it settles to a blue flame, it should be okay. You can also try turning on quicker so the gas isn't building up before the ignition.

Just installed a 30,000 btu Mr Heater blue flame heater last night, worked perfectly. This morning the flames and pilot light are burning mostly orange. What could be causing this.

That is a bad air/fuel mix... could be anything like clogged orifice or just needs to be adjusted.

Check out your warranty support first... and keep in mind poorly burning gas appliance can be EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

Consider putting in carbon gas detectors in addition to a liberal sprinkling of smoke detectors!!

Be safe

Our Blue Flame Natural Gas 30,000 BTU Stove Smokes the wall above it all the way to the ceiling and keeps the wall very hot, this is the second one we have tried, has anyone else had this problem?

It comes from the factor ready to use PROPANE, if you are using natural gas, then it needs to be re-jetted or orifices changed for the proper gas.

Hi,
The gas pressure is way to high... you need to adjust the regulator to a low pressure or replace the regulator...

Natural Gas wall heater

It sounds like the thermocoupler is either not adjusted into the flame properly, or you may have gotten a bad one. The thermocouple is the main thing that makes the pilot work.

Reddy heater model 28725

propane heater uses a hot surface ignitor. this operates off 120 volts and glows red/orange when actuated. it stays lit throughout the heater on operation.  on the backplate of the combustion chamber is a high limit with two wires coming off it.  these two wires connect to the spade connectors on the flame detector cappillary.  Once you establish a fire, the flame detector generates a 750 millivolt signal which is applied to the pilot/main valve assembly.  My diagram will show this. 1fa8284.jpg
