XFX NVIDIA GeForce 8600 Graphics Card Logo
Posted on Feb 05, 2010

My card XFX Nvidia 8600GT DDR3 256MB was working fine, recently it started to get heated up very quickly & burning like anything, now it wont even let my pc boot, i removed it & my pc boots up fine without it[inbuilt intel graphics on my DG31PR Intel board]. I have sent the card back to retailer, they said its bad & will replace it in a week. Firstly, i cant live without that card, Importantly i wana know whats the cause of this. So that i can be alert for future issues. My PC config: Core 2 Duo 2.33 Ghz Intel DG31PR M/b W/D 160 GB SATA HDD Transcend DDR2 1GB x 2 [2GB] 667 Mhz 450 Watt Power Supply Monitor / Speakers not to mention. If this problem continues i'm planning to go for Nvidia or AMD Motherboard & Ati Radeon HD 4870 card. I cant invest more, but i love intense graphics, plz help. Also i want to view digital 3d in future with what ever i upgrade. Plz help with proper suggestions to [email protected]

There is no need to go for another card just keep you pc well ventilated. and try to install some cooling fans in it. but if you want real cooling solutions then just purchase a coolermaster gpu coolers from the shops and i tell in the whole world that, they are the best company in producing CPU and GPU Coolers.

I cant find the driver for Galaxy nvidia 8600GT PCI-E 256MB DDR3 1.2ns

1.If is a xfx video card go to their support website: http://www.xfxforce.com . You may have to register the video card with xfx website (open an account there) in order to get customized video card driver.

OR

go to http://www.nvidia.com and pick the download driver link.

for Linux you may have to compile the driver but the package from nvidia does everything.
